Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE;
PATRICK F. TUNNY, OF GREENBUSH, NEW' YORK.
IMPROVEM ENT IN CLASPS.
Specificntio forning part of Letters Patent No. 207,694, datcd September 3, 1878; application filed January 31, 1878.
To all whom it may oonccr'n.-
Be it known that I, PATRICK F. TUNNY, of Greenbush, in the County of Rensselaer and State of New York, have invented a new and Inproved Clnsp for Suspenders, of which the following is a specification The object of my invention is to provide an improved clasp for suspenders for supporting pantaloons Without the use of buttons.
The invention will first be described in connection with the drawing, and then pointcd out in the ela-im.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a section of a suspendcr having my improved hook and clasp attached thereto. Fig. 2 is a detail view of the clasp.
A' is a clasp, in which the ring a is'formed in one solid piece with it, while the clasp is clamped to. the cloth by a tongue, a, (cut in one half of it,) that passes through the cloth and a hole, a in the other half of the clasp, the tongue being then bent or clinched.
The hook B is made of one continuous wire, and the catch or*1oop thereof is wider at b than the hole in ring a thus giving it zt lateral elasticity, so that it requires some force to insert and withdrztw the loop in and from the ring a thereby preventing it from slippin g out accidentally. The rear of hook B is permanently sccured to the suspender by being inserted in a U-shaped plate, E, clamped over the end of the sti-ap O and fnstened by rivets.
