Patented Oct. 13, 1936 UNITED STATS COMBINATION WAIST BAND AND BELT FOR TROUSERS Benjamin Hammer, Lowell, Mass.
Application October 1, 1935, Serial No. 43,098
1 Claim.
This invention relates to a combination waist band and belt for trousers, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby a portion of the belt is connected to a portion of the waist band and may be composed of the same material asthe waist band for trousers with the parts so formed and arranged that the belt has the appearance of an ordinary belt.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:-
Figure 1 is a front view of the upper portion of a pair oftrousers made in accordance with this invention.
Figure 2 is a horizontal sectional view through the front of the trousers, the belt and. waist band.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view through the belt.
Figure 4 is a fragmentary view of that end of the belt which is to be connected with the waistband.
In the drawing the letter A indicates the upper portion of a pair of trousers and the numeral' I indicates a belt which is formed of a strip of material B, which may be the same material as that of the waistband and trousers, and this strip has one end reduced as shown at 2 in Figure 4, the rest of the strip being of considerable width as shown at 2. The side parts of the portionZ' are folded on the lines 3 upon the rear face of the strip and stitched together to make the major portion of the belt of two thicknesses of material. The reduced part 2 has its side edges and free end edge folded rearwardly on the lines 4 and the waistband strip C has a reduced end which is also folded as is the reduced part 2 and these edges are sewn together as shown at 5 in Figures 2 and 3. The side extensions 2 of the major part of the belt strip terminate at the inner end of the reduced 5 part 2 and at this point the waistband strip C free of the belt strip passes in rear of said strip and the part 2 of this waistband is treated in the usual or any desired manner to form the waistband, Figure 2 showing its connection with the usual waistbanding strips 5, the innerlining l and one section of the fiy forming part 8, it being seen that these portions depend at the point where the waistband strip C leaves the reduced part 2 of the belt strip, these parts extend around the top of the trousers to the other fly section.
The trousers are provided with the usual loops 9 for the belt and the ends of the belt may be connected together by the snap fasteners or in any suitable manner and the belt may be provided with the adjusting buckle II.
If desired the outer edge of the outer portion of the snap fastener It) can be located between the belt strip B and the waistband strip C so that said edge will be hidden from View.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What is claimed is:--
A belt strip, a waistband strip and means for connecting a part of the waistband strip with a part of the belt strip, said means including a reduced portion at one end of the belt strip and a reduced portion at the same end of the waist- 40 band strip, the two reduced portions being sewn together at the side edges and end edge.
