Description

1. J. VAN SKELLINE. Wrapper for Bon-Bons.
No. 205,448. Patntepl June 25,1878.
l I l INVENTOR ATTORNEY N-FETERS, PHOTO'LITHOGRAPHER, WASHXNGTGN D c N TED STATES PATEE- ISABELLA J. VAN SKELLINE, OF BROOKLYN, E. D., NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN WRAPPERS FOR BONBONS.
Specification forming partof Letters Patent No. 205,448, dated June 25, 1876 application filed September 1, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ISABELLA J. VAN SKEL- Lnvn, of Brooklyn, E. D., in the county of Kings and State of New York, have'invented certain new and useful Improvements in the Manufacture of Waxed an d Ornamented Paper, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specification and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a representation of one of the forms of an edge of my improved sheet, punctured, tinted, and waxed; and Fig. 2 is a view of another form of an ornamented edge.
My invention relates to certain improvements in wrappers for bonbons, confectionery, and the like, and linings for boxes, &c.; and it consists of a sheet of paper having a portion of its body previously punctured and tinted, and subsequently entirely covered with a film of wax, the punctures or openings in the sheet made previous to the application of the wax permitting the latter to pass through said holes and form a union with the film on each side, thus firmly binding the whole to? gether, as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings I have represented the sheet of paper, which is first punctured and ornamented as desired, then tinted, and subsequently the whole sheet is waxed, thus forming an ornamental wrapper or lining for boxes.
It will be observed that the punctures or openings in the sheet serve the double purpose of ornamenting it, and at the same time, being made previous to the application of the wax, permit the latter to pass through the punctured parts and form a union with the film on either side, thus firmly binding the whole together. a
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'A sheet of paper having a portion of its body punctured and tinted, and the whole covered with a film of wax, as a new article of manufacture.
ISABELLA J. VAN sKELLINE,
