Description

Sept.- 1, 1936. D. s. ANTEL NOVELTY CONTAINER Filed June 29 1935 INVENTOR YA'I'I'ORNEY Patented Sept. 1, 1936 UNETED STATES PATENT OFFICE 6 Claims.
The invention relates to a novelty structure and more especially to a novelty container. 7
The primary object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, wherein the same is in the form of an image, for example a horse, mule, cow, or other animal and is possessed of a concealable jumping-jack which is confined within a compartment within the body of said image, while the said body, legs and head of the latter constitute cells or compartments for the carrying and storage of candies or edibles, the legs, head and tail of such image being separable for access to the said body, legs and head.
Another object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, wherein the legs are of novelconstruction and have separable connection with the body of the image so that said legs can be opened for access to the interior thereof for the removal of their contents.
A further object of the invention is the provision of an article of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and efficient in the operation thereof, strong, durable, attractive and fanciful in its make-up, and inexpensive to manufacture.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter more fully described in detail, illustrated in the accompanying drawing which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention and pointed out in the claims hereunto appended. However, it is to be understood that changes variations and modifications may be made in the invention as fall properly within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit of the invention or sacrificing any of its advantages.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the article constructed in accordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary vertical longitudinal sectional view thereof.
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the head of the image removed from the body of the same.
Figure 4 is a perspective View of one of the legs of the image detached from the body of the same.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of another of the legs showing the same open.
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the tail separated from the body of the image.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail the article is in the form of an image A, in this instance being imitative of a horse comprising a body In having at its shoulder end an opening II, while at the buttocks end is an opening I2. This shoulder end has formed exteriorly thereof a collar effect I3 and within the said opening II is frictionally fitted the annular reduced flange portion I 4 of a neck I5 provided with a head I6. The head I6 is fitted with ears I! and at the proper location at each side of said head is an eye I8, while the neck I5 carries a mane I9. It is preferable to have representation exteriorly on the head I6 of a bridle or halter 20.
The body I D has built interiorly thereof spaced vertical partitions 2| providing the respective compartments 22, 23 and 24, the compartment 22 being open at its top through the body I0, and Within this compartment is suitably arranged and secured a coiled spring tensioned jumping-jack 25. This jack 25 is confined normally within the compartment 22 through the medium of a cover flap 26, which exteriorly is representative of a saddle 21. This flap is hinged at one side to the body I0, while at the other side of the latter the said flap 26 is snap fastened at 28 in closed position to retain the jack within the compartment 22 until released for jumping action without the latter.
The compartments 23 and 24 are for the reception of candies of any kind or edibles (not shown) which are accessible through the respective openings II and I2.
Removably fitted within the opening I2 is a plug 29 carrying a tall 30, the plug being frictionally held in said opening and is adjustable therein, this being also true with respect to the neck I5 carrying the head I6.
At the under side of the body I0, fore and aft thereof are spring finger-like clips 3| for the separable engagement of hanger loops or eyes 32 therewith, the latter being carried in hinged caps 33 which normally close the inner ends of hollow legs 34. These caps are snap fastened at 35 and within the legs are stored candies, edibles or the like. The legs 3 5 when separated from the body I0 are accessible for the removal of their contents and when said legs are attached to the body the latter will be supported to have the image in a standing position.
The body I0, legs, neck and head of the image are preferably made from a composition material or any other material suitable for the formation thereof and to assure strength and durability.
Exterior ornamentation of the image may be varied to satisfy attractiveness and fanciful character thereto.
The structure as an article is useful as a toy.
What is claimed is:
1. An article of the kind described, comprising an image having a chambered body and separable chambered capped legs on said body.
2. An article of the kind described, comprising an image formed with a chambered body, chambered capped legs separably connected with the body, and separablehead and tail on the body and permitting access to the chambers therein.
3. An article of the kind described, comprising an image having a chambered body, separable chambered capped legs on the body, separable head and tail on the said body and permitting access to the chambers therein. 7
4. An article of the kind described, comprising opposite ends, capped hollow legs detachably fas tened to the lowermost portion of the body, a head having a neck releasably fitted in one end opening and a plug having a tail releasably fitted in the other end opening.
