DOLLS HEAD.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MABEL H. SLATER, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Dolls Heads, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to animproved dolls head.

The object of the invention is to provide a dolls head with a hat or cap attached thereto in such a manner that when the doll is tipped forwardly or backwardly, or from side to side, or upside down, the hat will still remain on the head, but will assume different positions-to one side, tip backwardly on the head, tip forwardly over the forehead, and when the doll is tipped upside down the hat will still remain attached to the head, thus presenting a number of comical effects which are very amusing.

Another object of the invention is to enable the dolls head to be usedas a bank for coins and to that end the head is provided with a slot through which the coins may be inserted into the interior thereof. These coins may act as a positioning weight, or a weight may be placed in the head instead of coins so as to cause the head to always assume a vertical position after being rocked upon its lower portion, the lower portlon being made hemispherical for this purpose, and as the head is rocked upon its lower portion, the weight will bring it back to a substantially vertical position, while the hat or cap will assume differentpositions each time that the head is rocked, thus making a very amusingtoy.

The invention consists of a dolls head of the character hereinafter set forth in the specification and particularly as pointed out in the claims.

on the inner end thereof, the thread projecting through a slot 10'provided in the head. The thread 7 is of such length that when the dolls head is tipped from one side to the other, or forwardly or backwardly, the hat can assume different positions on the head,

and when the doll is tipped upside down, the hat will still remain attached to it.

The slot 10 is of sufficient length and width to enable coins of different diameters to be inserted in the hollow interior of the head 5, the hat being pushed back to enable'this to be done. The lower portion 11 of the head is made substantially hemispherical so that the same may be rocked into different positions and when so rocked, it will be brought back to a substantially vertical position by a weight 12 positioned in the head. When the head is rocked, as stated, the cap will assume different positions relatively thereto.

lVhile I have described my invention in the foregoing specification as particularly adapted to a dolls head, the same invention may be embodied in an article shaped to represent an animals head, such as a dog,

cat or the like. The invention is also adapted to be used in a head shaped to represent an Easter egg, and in Halloween novelties of different designs embodying the same general characteristics as hereinbefore set forth.

I claim: 7

1. A dolls head, a hat, cap, or the like, positioned upon said head, and a flexible member within and secured to the hat and attaching the same loosely to the top of the head, whereby the hat may assume diiferent positions on the head when the latter is tipped, while preventing the hat from be coming accidentally detached from the head. 2. hollow dolls head provided with an openmg in the top thereof, a hat, cap, or the like loosely mounted thereon, a flexible member attached at one end to said hat, cap,

or the like and projecting through said opening, and means on the inner end of said flexible member within the head to prevent the same from being accidentally detached from the head while allowing the cap to assume difierent positions on the head when the latter is tipped.
