T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, REUBEN NAKIAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of l/Vest Hoboken, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Figure Toy, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in toys, particularly to a toy broom and includes broadly the idea of any female fig ure or other body in which bristles are used to represent the skirt of a figure.

An object of the invention is to provide a toy of this character either in the form of a childs toy broom or a full sized whiskbroom, which will be unique and attractive in appearance, simple and practical in construction, and comparatively inexpensive to manufacture.

VVi'th these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more fully hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawings:

Figure 1 is a view in front elevation of a modified form of toy broom;

Figure 2 is a fragmentary edge view thereof; and

Figure 3 is a top plan view thereof.

In Figure 1, l carry out the invention in another way, in this instance, providing an attractive toy broom which will be amusing and of value as a childs plaything. The device illustrated in Figures 1, 2 and com prises an elongated handle 6, preferably of circular cross section. A body or figure 7 is secured in any approved manner to the lower end of the handle and the bristles of a brush 8 secured in the lower end of the figure 7, form the skirt of the figure. Arms 9 are pivoted to the shoulders of the figure on pins or other suitable devices 10. The head 11 of the figure which rests upon the shoulders is preferably formed with a central opening receiving the handle 6 so that the head may be turned upon the handle, as indicated in dotted lines in Figure 3.

It will be apparent that the exact shape of the figure and the manner of decorating the same might be infinitely varied. With the device illustrated in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the arms need not necessarily be pivoted since a cheaper toy could be produced by forming the arms integral with the body. 7

l t will be evident, therefore, that while I have illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, numerous slight changes and alterations might be made in the general form and arrangement of the parts described without departing from the invention and hence I do not wish to limit myself to the precise details set forth, but shall consider myself at liberty to make such slight changes and alterations as fairly fall within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.

I claim:

1. As a new article of manufacture, a toy including a body portion representing a figure, bristles secured to the lower end of the figure and representing a skirt, arms pivotally connected to the figure at the shoulder, a relatively long handle attached to the upper end of the body, and a head resting on the upper end of the body and rotatable on the handle.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a toy broom or brush comprising bristles simulating in the aggregate a skirt, a support for said bristles simulating the body of a figure provided with arms, a handle extending upwardly from the bristle support, and a head for said body rotatably mounted upon the handle and resting upon the upper end of the body. 7'
