IMPROVEMENT lN CAM P-STOVES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 203,963, dated May 21, 1878 application filed September 10, 1877.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I,'L0UIs P. VoLLBREoHT, of Mason, county of Mason, and State of Texas, have invented a new and Improved Camp- Stove, of which the following is a specification:

In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a sectional elevation of my improved camp-stove, shown in position for transporta-v tion; Fig. 2 is a front view of the camp-stove in position for use, and Fig. 3 a small elevation of the same.

The invention relates to an improved stove for camp and other uses, that may be reduced to small and compact size for transportation and readily put up for use, so as to be especially adapted for exploration parties and camp purposes.

Referring to the drawing, A represents the cylindrical, oval, or otherwise shaped body of my camp-stove, and B one or more sections of corresponding shape, which are made to telescope into the main section, as shown in Fig. 1, when the stove is to be packed up for transportation, or extended when the same is desired for use, as shown in Fig. 3. The section or sections B are guided by side rails 0 along hands 'a of the main section, and are fittedsnugly to each other, so as to form tight joints when drawn out, without admitting the escape of smoke. The main section A of the stove is supported on hinged and laterally-braced legs D, and the rear section on a pivoted leg, D, which arefolded up on the body, the hinged legs being preferably curved, so as to fit the shape of the main section and take up no extra space. The pivoted rear leg D is folded back on the rear wall of the stove. A top shelf, E, is riveted to the top of the main section A for placing thereon vessels for cooking, an opening or openings and lid, b, of the shelf admitting the direct action of the fire on a vessel or vessels. The front part of the stove has a door and register for the fuel, the interior a grate, and the rear part an exit-pipe, with detachable elbow and telescoping smoke-pipe F. A hinged handle, e, of the rear wall "serves for handling the stove when the extension-section is slid in and all the detachable parts placed into the interior of the stove, which is then ready to be shipped or transported with great facility, forming a convenient, light, and useful stove for heating and cooking purposes for camp and other use.

Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the main body of the I stove with one ormore telescoping and guided sections, to extend the stove for use or reduce the same in size for transportation, substantially as and for the purpose described.
