Description
.t UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIOE.
AJOHN E. MOORE, OF BYRON, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN HONEY-BOXES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 203,483, dated May '7, 1878 5 application filed October 12, me;
To all 'whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN E. MOORE, of
Byron, in the county of Genesee and State of New York, have invented a new and useful with the comb-frame and separate glasses applied loosely upon the opposite faces of the said frame, of caps at each end, which embrace the frame and glasses, and hold the Whole in compact form, as hereinafter more fully described.
O represents a comb-frame of square or rectangular form,having open faces on both sides. d d represent the edges of said frame, against which the glass sections rest. The frame is rst `filled with honey by the bees, and .the glass sections afterward applied. G G are the glass sections, which are of such size as to fit flush over the edges d d.
AA are caps of paper, which fit over the Opposite ends of the comb-frames and glass sections, thus holding the said glass sections in place and close to the frame. Theseoaps are similar to the covers of ordinary paper,
cut With notched corners f f, leaving the outstanding ianges B` B and the body A, after which the said iiauges B B are turned up to form the rim of the cover, and a strip of strong light paper is pasted around the rim to secure the same and retain it in proper position.
The caps may be made, if desired, of any other material, and to adhere to the ends of the box, on the inside, by glue or any other suitable material.
A honey-box formed in the manner above described has the merit of extreme simplicity and cheapness, and is easily connected and dis connected, as the glass sections are loose, and not fixed or permanently attached, asin other boxes of the kind.
Having thus described my invention, what i claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A honey-box consisting of the comb-frame O, the glass sections G G, and the coveringcaps A A, combinedand arranged to Operate as and for the purpose specified. JOHN E. MOORE. Witnesses:
