SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent lil'o. 'I93,8'71, dated July t, 1905,
Application filed October 12, 1904. Serial No. 228,120.
To all whom 712% may concern/.-
lfe it known that it, JULIUs l-l. BIEN, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of San Francisco and State of Ualifornia, have invented new and useful Improvements in lflyPaper Holders, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a holder for sticky fly-paper.
The object of my invention is to provide a holder for sticky fly-paper which will prevent the adhesive from running off the paper, protect the hands in handling the paper, allow the paper to be stood on edge or held at an angle when in use, enable the paper to be folded and pressed tight together into a small COTHDaSS for packing and shipping purposes, and which will operate to exclude moisture from the paper when stored in stock.
The invention consists of the parts and the construction and combination of parts, as hereinafter more fully described and claimed, having reference to the accompanying draw ings, in whicl :l igure 1 is a plan view of my holder in open position. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of same. Fig. 3 is a perspective view showing holder partly open. Fig. l is a view of holder closed.
it represents my improved holder, which may be of any suitable size and shape, depending on the sheet of fly-paper to be held and protected. This holder may be of any suitable material. Preferably it made of a sheet of paper of suitable quality, whereby it may be folded and pressed into small compass. This holder is provided with the re spective lateral and end flaps 2 3, which are adapted to be folded over upon a sheet of flypaper, as 4t, having a suitable adhesive for a lure on its upper surface, the folded-over flaps forming a border entirely around the sheet at. These flaps 2 3 have incisions 5 at the cor ners to enable the flaps easily to be folded over onto and cover the sticky edges of the sheet, thus holding the sheet in position and forming a protective border all around the sheet. Also the side flaps have the incisions (i, centrally of the holder, to allow the latter to be folded over as a book, with the adhesive side of one half of the fly-paper sheet at against the adhesive side of the opposite half, leaving the holder on the outside to protect the :l'ly-paper sheet. By taking hold of the ends of the folded holder it and the contained sheet 4: can easily be straightened out for use. The turned-in flaps 2 3 operate as a barrier against the exudation or running of the sticky mixture on sheet at and serve as a border by which the device can be easily handled without soiling the hands. Moreover, this holder, with its inturnod protective flaps, enables the sheet to be stood on edge, as in Fig. 3, on a counter or in a window or where there is not room or it is not desired to lay the sheet out flat.
The holder with its attached fly-paper sheet can be folded over and packed very tight without any of the adhesive escaping. Fur thermore, the holder acts as a protector for the adhesive sheet against moisture.
ltlaving thus described my invention, what 1 claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The combination with a sheet of sticky fly-paper, of a flexible holder therefor having edge flaps folded. over onto and covering the sticky edges of the sheet so as to form a protective border around the sheet said folded edges serving, also, as a barrier against the escape of the sticky mixture over the edges of the holder.
9.. The combination with a sheet of sticky :l'lypaper, of a flexible holder therefor having side and end flaps folded over directly onto and covering the sticky edges of the sheet so as to form a protected linger-holder or border around the sheet, said holder and its contained sheet foldable in unison in book form.
3. The combination with a sheet of sticky fly-paper of a flexible backing therefor having side and end flaps adapted to be folded over and united directly to the sticky edges of the sheet of fly-paper and forming a nonadhesive border around the same.
l. The combination with a sheet of sticky fly-paper of a flexible backing therefor having side and end flaps adapted to be folded over and united directly to the sticky edges my hand in presence of two subscribing Witof the sheet of fly-paper and forming a nonnesses. adhesive border around the same, the side flaps of said border having central incisions JULIUS BIEN' 3 as 6 to permit the sheet and backing to be \Vitnesses:
folded in book form. S. H. NOURSE,
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set J ESSIE G. BRODIE.
