  • 1. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • Inventor is the mother of a mentally challenged child who will never be able to go to the restroom unaccompanied and will wear diapers throughout life. Now the child is entering puberty, mother has invented this product to ensure that during diaper changes movement of the child can be limited. Thus, although the garment can be made for any stage of life it provides the novelty of bodysuits of this type, being created with the mentally challenged adolescent child in mind. Bodysuits as articles of clothing as herein disclosed, can be worn by both males and females with mental disabilities for the purposes of protecting the wearer from dismantling diapers, under garments or accessing inside diapers, while allowing natural unrestrictive movement like conventional underwear. It also allows the guardian to dismantle the garment in a way that can assist in restricting movement of the wearer's arms and legs that can typically cause changing these children or individuals very difficult, by having the child or young adult placed on the stomach while being able to fully dismantle the garment from the back.
  • 2. BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A one-piece bodysuit garment, which completely dismantles from the back potion of the torso from a series of fasteners of prior art that will hold the garment in place. The garment being a continuous piece of material with spaces for arms and shoulders of the wearer to cut out portions for legs at the base of the garment to accommodate legs. The garment having an elongated U-shaped piece of material or flap hanging at the groin area in the front of the garment making, being long enough and fashioned in a style to accommodate the groin area, as covering for the female or male genitals, that having gone through the legs, will fasten or pin to the back of the garment around the buttock area. The elongated U-shaped flap in the male version of the garment containing a pocket to specifically accommodate male genitals. Both versions of the garment having leotard style legs with longer leg portions for a body suit styled garment particularly for the male version but being able to be constructed for both male and female forms. Fasteners being conventional prior art devices, whether hook & eyes, buttons, clips or other fastener devices, already in use in the industry. The garment being fastened in the rear to accommodate specifically, special needs from children to adults stages, who require changes throughout their life span and specifically allows for changes on the stomach, prevents the wearer from easily removing the garment once on, or sticking their hands into the garment once on, which assists caretakers limit the challenges constant movement of these children can pose to changes.

  • 5. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The disclosed embodiments are generally directed to bodysuits, and more particularly to bodysuits with full dismantling structures and methods of manufacture. The bodysuit intended for wear not as underwear, or exercise gear but over diapers of children to adults, between the ages of seven (7) years old and up that have mental special needs. The construction of the garment being used as a diaper changing aid, as well as aiding in the prevention of the wearer accessing inside the diaper, from the top or sides of the diaper, while wearing over garments, such as normal clothing. The bodysuit comprising of a panel having a conventional neck, arm, and leg openings in the torso of the garment, either cut from one continuous panel of material or three panels, the front panel stitched, to the back left panel from the underarm to left leg opening, and stitched to the right back panel, also from the underarm to the right leg opening, to form a continuous piece of material as in expanded view of the garment depicted in FIG. 3. This continuous panel having fasteners of prior art whether buttons, hook and eyes, clips, etc., down the edge of the length of the left and right panels, to fastening in the middle of the back, to prevent the wearer as far as possible from accessing these fasteners.
  • The front panel having as part of its continuity, a flap cut to form the crotch area of the garment being wider at the front of the crotch area of the garment, narrower in the middle, yet wide enough to fully cover the average incontinence undergarment or diaper, having elasticity to accommodate the hugging of the crotch area for female genitals as in FIG. 1, and having extra material sewn to form a pocket in the front of the flap, to accommodate male genitalia all the way to behind the scrotum and without the traditional opening, used to access the penis for urinating purposes, as in FIG. 5. Continuing in the fashion of the female flap, to widen at the back of the garment having fasteners on the hem of the flap that close to accommodating fastener parts, above the buttock area in the back of the garment, as in FIG. 6.
  • Further in the male version of the crotch area, are two additional pieces of material stitched to the middle of the back part of the pocket in the flap, situated in area behind the scrotum, one on the left side of the bodysuit to cover the remaining parts of the flap on that side of the crotch, with fasteners down the hem of that material that close into accommodating fastener parts on the left back side of the leg as in FIG. 7 of the drawings, FIG. 8 being a closer view of the same aspect of the garment. The other additional piece of material sewn from the middle of the right part of the crotch, again, to cover the remaining crotch area on the right side of the garment, having fasteners down the hem of that material that close into accommodating fastener parts on the right back side of the leg as in FIG. 7. The back panels, both left and right, having a cut the hem of which is surrounded by fasteners, to accommodate the fasteners on the flap, as in FIG. 2.
  • Fasteners down the middle back of garment, on the back of the flap in the crotch for the short and long legged version and additionally at the back of the legs for the long legged version of the garment are with clasps, buttons or other fasteners of prior art, intermittently spaced on adjacent edges which can further be reinforced by additional security features such as velcro or an additional flap of material with fasteners to reinforce preventative measures for the wearer to access and undo said fasteners as displayed in FIGS. 2 and 7. The concept of the double fasteners giving the changer of a child that is unable to keep still a quicker chance to reinforce the garment lowering the time the child's genitals are exposed by placing the child on its stomach during changes to prevent the young one for also using hands or toes to access the crotch area until the crotch area has been adequately cleaned and sanitized. Double fasteners also make it more difficult for these children and adults from accessing inside their undergarments while clothed making it more difficult to open.
  • The hem of the neck, arms and legs openings being wider than usual but being lined with non-stretchable material to prevent the wearer forcing apart the material to gain access through these portions of the garment to under garments. The ability to unfasten the garment from the back offers care givers of special needs children a chance to change diapers of these children and young adults with minimal movement by the child or young adult making cleaning them easier. The intermittently spaced detachably fasteners may comprises conventional buttons, snaps, zippers, hook and loop patches, zip lock fasteners, magnets, etc. secured to or sewn into or onto the garment's openable and closable seam joining edges.
