, Although the foregoing description is -necessarily of a detailed character, in order that the invention may be completely set forth, it is to be understood that the specific terminology is not intended to be restrictive or confining, and that various rearrangements of'parts and modifications of structural detail may be resorted to without departing from the scope or spirit of the invention as herein claimed. 1

A frame assembly for use in building construction comprising an outer frame rail and an inner frame rail, the outer rail having a longitudinal' slot formed therein, an anchor plate mounted for lateral adjustment insaid slot and havinga retaining rib formed on the inner edge thereof forlimiting outward adjustment of the plate, wedge-shaped ledges extending longitudinally of the railon opposite sides of said-slot and v adapted to engage in complementary grooves formed in' said rib to effect closure of said slot when said plate'is adjusted to its anchored podtion, and adjusting screws extending through said rails and abutting said rib to effect outward adjustment of the plate into anchoring position with relation to the wall of the building in which the assembly is installed. g

In a frame assembly for use in building construction. a side rail having a longitudinal slot therein, an anchor plate mounted in said slot and movable inwardly" and outwardly in relation to said rail, set screws mounted in said rail and hav- 1o ing their inner ends arranged to abut the edge of said plate, and means adapted to effect a wedgesealing engagement of the marginal edges of the slot with the plate when the latter is adjusted adapted to c ange said abutment andthrust the plate outwardly and; lockthe plate in its voutwardly-adjusted position with respect to said rail. A frame assembly for installing doors, winso dows and the like in building construction comprising an outer frame rail and an inner casing rail, the outer frame rail having its outer wall 'formed with a longitudinal slot extending throughout the length thereof, an anchor plate 35 mounted in said slot, the inner wall of said frame rail being formed with longitudinally extending side flanges adapted for inter-locking engagement with said casing rail, and screws passed through 1 said casing rail and threaded through the inner 0 wall .of the frame rail into abutting engagement with said anchor plate.
