  • FIG. 3 a and FIG. 3 b are flowcharts illustrating processes of reporting loss between a USB memory 1 and a smart phone 2 .
  • the USB memory device 1 receives a radio signal from the smart phone 2 (S 21 ) as shown in FIG. 3 a to identify whether the previously registered radio signal is normally received (S 12 ).
  • the USB memory device 1 determines that the smart phone 2 is positioned away from the USB memory device 1 by a predetermined distance or more, and the USB memory device 1 drives the buzzer and the LED to report the same (S 23 ). In case the radio signal is normally received, the USB memory device 1 determines that the user carries both the USB memory device 1 and the smart phone 2 and the USB memory device 1 performs a normal operation (S 24 ).
  • the smart phone 2 receives a radio signal from the USB memory device 1 (S 25 ) as shown in FIG. 3 b to identify whether the previously registered radio signal is normally received (S 26 ).
  • the smart phone 2 determines that the USB memory device 1 is positioned away from the smart phone 2 by a predetermined distance or more, and the smart phone 2 outputs an alert sound to report the same (S 27 ).

  • the smart phone 2 When receiving a radio signal for reporting an emergency from the USB memory device 1 , the smart phone 2 sends a text message to the previously registered guardian or emergency rescue organization or to access a server to report the emergency (S 33 ).
  • the smart phone 2 detects its location information, which is computed through the GPS and a network, and a signal strength and the MAC address of a nearby Wi-Fi or Bluetooth device searched in an ambient radio environment and periodically transmits the same to the guardian or emergency rescue organization (S 34 ).
  • the smart phone 2 may detect its location information computed through the GPS and a network, the MAC address of the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth module of the smart phone 2 , an address of the Bluetooth module of the USB memory device, and a signal strength and transmit the same to the guardian and the emergency rescue organization, and the Wi-Fi module of the smart phone may enter into AP mode (Wi-Fi hotspot mode), so that a person from the emergency rescue organization may perform accurate positioning in the site based on the received MAC address of the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth module, Bluetooth address of the USB memory device 1 and signal strength to track the location of the user.

  • an operation for maintaining security of the USB memory device 1 is performed while the USB memory device 1 is interoperably connected with the smart phone 2 (S 41 ). In other words, it is impossible to record data in the USB memory device 1 or to read out recorded data unless the USB memory device 1 interworks with the smart phone 2 .
  • the USB memory device 1 determines whether a password for security is contained in a radio signal received from the smart phone 2 , i.e., whether the user has entered the password for security in the smart phone 2 .
  • the USB memory device 1 switches the switching device 19 on to supply power from the USB connector 11 to the memory 14 , so that the user may store data in the USB memory device 1 or read and utilize the data stored in the USB memory device 1 .
  • the USB memory device 1 switches the switching device 19 off to cut off power supplied from the USB connector 11 to the memory 14 , thus preventing others from storing data in the USB memory device 1 or reading out the data stored in the USB memory device 1 .
