Description

  • The invention relates to a sanitary fitting having a swivelling spout.
  • There are sanitary fittings fastened to a horizontal surface and having a base from the upper side of which extends a swivellable spout. The spout usually has the form of a U-shaped bend.
  • Sanitary fittings in which a spout is swivellable attached to the underside are also known.
  • The object underlying the invention is to improve in terms of a simple design a sanitary fitting having a swivellable spout extending from the fitting housing.
  • To achieve this object, the invention proposes a sanitary fitting comprising a fitting housing and a spout arranged on an outside of the fitting housing and rotatably arranged about an axis inside the fitting housing, and a water supply passing through the fitting housing, to which a water supply is connected inside the spout in a rotatable and sealed manner. Further embodiments of the invention are the subject-matter of sub-claims.
  • The fitting housing can for example form a base for the spout.
  • The axis about which the spout is rotatable can for example run vertical to a surface of the fitting housing, in particular in an extension of an interior of the fitting housing.
  • In accordance with the invention, it can be provided in a development of the invention that the spout has an outer pipe determining its appearance and inside which a duct which forms the water supply is passed through. In particular, this duct can be a hose, for example also a corrugated hose.
  • The duct preferably consists of a material approved for drinking water, for example made of a food-grade plastic.
  • For connection of the duct routed through the spout to the water supply of the fitting housing, it can be provided that the sanitary fitting has a plug-in nipple engaging in the fitting housing and connected to the spout or its duct. A plug-in nipple of this type is particularly suitable for swivellable connection of the spout to the fitting housing.
  • In particular, it can be provided that the plug-in nipple is connected to the spout or to its duct in a rotationally fixed manner and can be rotated relative to the fitting housing.
  • In a further development of the invention, it can be provided that the spout can be easily removed from the fitting housing.
  • For particularly convenient and resistant mounting of the spout on the fitting housing, it can be provided that the fitting housing has a pipe socket projecting from its surface that is preferably designed in one piece with the fitting housing. The water supply is routed through this pipe socket to the spout. The spout is then rotatably arranged about this pipe socket or its axis.
  • In a development of the invention, it can be provided that a fastening sleeve is arranged inside the spout pipe and is preferably connected to the pipe socket in a rotationally and axially fixed manner. This fastening sleeve can be used to interact with the pipe socket of the fitting housing for rotatable mounting of the spout.
  • In accordance with the invention, it can be provided that the already mentioned plug-in nipple is axially and non-rotatably connected to the fastening sleeve of the spout.
  • It can be provided in accordance with the invention that the fastening sleeve of the spout contacts with one of its enclosing surfaces the corresponding enclosing surface of the pipe socket of the fitting housing. It is preferred in accordance with the invention that the outer enclosing surface of the fastening socket contacts the inside of the pipe socket of the fitting housing.
  • In a further development of the invention, it can be provided that an axial securing means is provided on the fastening sleeve for axial securing of the spout on the fitting housing.
  • For the sanitary fitting to comply with stricter regulations relating to drinking water quality, it can be provided in a development in accordance with the invention that not only the duct routed through the spout, but also the plug-in nipple consists of a food-grade plastic.
  • The plug-in nipple can be designed such that it engages in a connecting element likewise made of plastic inside the fitting housing.
  • Further features, details and advantages of the invention are shown in the claims and in the abstract, the wordings of both of which are made into the substance of the description by reference, in the following description of preferred embodiments of the invention, and by the drawings. In the drawings:
  • FIG. 1 is a section through the upper part of a sanitary fitting according to the invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a side view in an enlarged scale of the spout removed from the sanitary fitting;
  • FIG. 3 is a cross-section along line III-III in FIG. 2;
  • FIG. 4 is an axial section along the line IV-IV through the lower part of the spout;
  • FIG. 5 is a perspective view of the spout from below;
  • FIG. 6 is a section enlarged relative to FIG. 1 through the attachment of the spout to the fitting housing.
  • In FIG. 1 the fitting housing 1 is only shown incomplete. This is a fitting housing that is fastened to a flat base. These details do not form part of the invention. The fitting housing 1 has, roughly speaking, the form of a cylinder and contains on its front a branch 2 inside which a mixer cartridge 3 is accommodated. An actuating element 4 with a lever is used for operating the mixer cartridge 3. This is a so-called single-lever mixer fitting where the lever 4 is used both for opening and closing of the valve and for varying the temperature.
  • A spout 6 is arranged on the upper end face 5 of the fitting housing and is rotatably mounted about an axis 7 vertical to the end face 5 of the fitting housing 1. The spout runs, starting from the end face 5 of the fitting housing 1, first upwards in a straight line and then merges into a bend that extends over slightly less than half the bend length. An aerator 9 is arranged at its spout end 8. The spout 6 contains an outer pipe 10, for example of metal. A duct 11, which is for example designed as a hose made of plastic, is arranged inside this pipe 10, which determines the stability and the outer shape of the spout 6.
  • At its end associated with the fitting housing 1, the duct 11 is connected to a plug-in nipple 12 which engages inside the fitting housing 1 in a connecting element 13 made of plastic. At the opposite end, the duct 11 is connected to a nipple 14 of the aerator 9.
  • The pipe 10 of the spout 6 reaches as far as the end face 5 of the fitting housing 1 and engages in a recess.
  • Further details of the connection between the spout and the fitting housing can be seen in the following figures, with reference firstly being made to FIG. 4. A fastening sleeve 14 is arranged inside the pipe 10 of the spout 6. It is non-rotatably and axially connected to the inside of the pipe 10. To do so, the fastening sleeve 14 has in the area of its upper end a flange 15 by the outside of which it is fastened to the pipe 10. In the area adjoining a flange 15, the fastening sleeve 14 is at a distance from the pipe 10. In the area of its lower end facing the fitting housing 1 in FIG. 4, the fastening sleeve 14 contains an all-round outer groove 16 that can be used for axial securing.
  • The plug-in nipple 12 is inserted into the fastening sleeve from its end having the flange 15. In the area of the lower end, the fastening sleeve 14 contains on the inside a constricted part in contact with the plug-in nipple 12 by an inclined shoulder 17. Outside the fastening sleeve, a securing clip 18 is inserted into the plug-in nipple which thus comes into contact with the lower end face of the fastening sleeve 14. This axially secures the plug-in nipple 12 relative to the fastening sleeve 14. The plug-in nipple 12 has, in its area in which it is arranged inside the constricted part of the fastening sleeve 14, a hexagonal cross-section, see the cross-section of FIG. 3. As a result, the plug-in nipple 12 is also fixed non-rotatably relative to the fastening sleeve 14.
  • In its area outside the fastening sleeve, the plug-in nipple 12 has a smooth cylindrical surface which is only interrupted by a groove for receiving a gasket 19.
  • In the side view, the lower end of the spout 6 not connected to the fitting housing looks as shown in FIG. 2.
  • Since the fastening sleeve 14 is connected non-rotatably and axially to the pipe 10 of the spout, and the plug-in nipple 12 in turn is connected non-rotatably and axially to the fastening sleeve 14, the plug-in nipple 12 rotates with the spout 6.
  • Above the shoulder 17, the plug-in nipple 12 has a structure with all-round ribs 21. The duct 11 in the form of a hose is pushed onto these ribs 21 with sawtooth shape until its front end is in contact with the shoulder 17.
  • For attachment of the spout to the fitting housing, reference is now made to FIG. 6. A pipe-like socket 22 projects upwards from the upper end face 5 of the fitting housing 1. The internal diameter of this socket 22 corresponds to the external diameter of the fastening sleeve 14. The external diameter of the tube-like socket 22 corresponds approximately to the internal diameter of the pipe 10 of the spout 6. The spout is pushed with its plug-in nipple 12 and its fastening sleeve into the socket 22. The fastening sleeve 14 is sufficiently long in its area underneath its flange 15 for the groove 16 of the fastening sleeve 14 to be arranged inside the fitting housing 1. The front smooth area of the plug-in nipple 12 engages in the connecting element 13. The gasket 19 is placed inside this connecting element 13. A screw 23 is screwed in from the outside into the fitting housing 1 and its front blunt end is inside the groove 16 and hence effects the axial securing of the spout 6.
  • The outer pipe 10 of the spout 6 engages into a recess in the upper end face 5 of the fitting housing.
  • Since the connecting element 13, the plug-in nipple 12 and the duct 11 are made of plastic, it is assured that the water leaving the sanitary fitting does not come into contact with metal at any point.
