J. M. BODENSIEK HOSE SUPPORTER GRIPPING DEVICE Filed Feb. 12, 1935 INVENTOR.
19/7/7/3 M 50 dens/e4. BY A ATTORNEY.
Patented Aug. 27, 1935 i-ix'apprcasngrebniily;12, 1935,;Serial-,No.,6,178.1;
negsielaegx (alga-324's This' invention relates to corset hose-sup porter gripping devices and 'has foron'e of its objects the provision-of a button ty'pe gripping device which is' substantially 'flatand provided with means 'for ad justably clampingsame to a hose supporter or garter elastic without sewing 'thefsaid garter to -the-clasp softhalt the'gripping device may be readily r'emovedfirom'thegarter when the corset "or other garnient is' to be 10;
laundere d.
' nether object of the -invention is to provide such a gripping device in which the frame, hosegripping loop or yoke and garter gripping buckle are made of one piece of material, thus eliminating the use of the connecting sleeves which are now commonly used and which often come apart when a .heavy strain is put on the device.
A further object of the invention is to pro-' vide a device of this character in which the hoseclamping disk or button and its base are made out of a single piece of any suitable material such as metal, bakelite or composition, to avoid, riveting of the said parts and the resultant joint which is detrimental to the hose.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of a rubber ring or collar which is rotatable about the shank of the clamping button so as to provide a give or slight rotation of the stocking when the wearer moves her leg and thus preventing tearing or runs when a sudden pull or jerk is placed upon the button by such movement. 7
Another object is to produce a device of the character described in which the maximum simplicity of construction and operation is secured.
Other objects and advantages will appear'as the nature of the improvements'is betterunderstood, the invention consisting substantially in the novel arrangement and co-relation of parts herein fully described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein similar reference characters are used to describe corresponding parts throughout the several views, and then finally pointed out and specifically defined and indicated in the appended claims.
The disclosure made the basis of exemplifying v derstood from an illustrative, rather than a restrictive standpoint. v
The inventive idea involved is capable of receiving a variety of mechanical expressions, one
of;whichf,-for =th purpose "of illustration, is shown in' the accompanying drawing, in which'' f r I Figurefl is a perspective view of my improved ripping device.
, 1 Figure? is an enlarged front vievvfin elevation 7 thereof, shown- "as -"appli ed to a stocking.
: Figureka is a 'section taken on line '3- i'3, Figure 2,
Figured isa seetiofn" v ew tairen on m ta,
ura 5:, a V v v Figure 5 is-a1 perspective-view partly broken away at an enlarged scale of the combined base and clamping button, and c PATENTTOFFICE? zeros] fi b TE GE P NmiEvI i 7 lilidensiek,NewYork, NIY. I
Figure 6 is a perspective view of the combined frame, clamping loop and garter clamp.
Referring now to the drawing in detail It! indicates an elastic strip or garter depending from a corset or other garment ll, Adjustably suspended from the said stripplfl is a hose gripping device I2 which comprises a frame l3 having at the top thereof a garter clasp or toothed grip I4 below' which and spaced therefrom there is pro-.
vided a bar l5 about whichthe garter I0 is entwined through slots l6 Vandll. The said frame is further provided at the bottom thereof with a loop l8 which cooperates with a button or disk l9 for clamping the hose 20 therebetween.
The said button or disk 19 formsa part or and is integral with a base 2| provided with slots 22 through which passes a ribbon 23 the ends of which are fastened or cla mpingly held in a bentup ear 24 at the rear of the frame l3 directly below the slot [1. The combined button. l9 and base 2| is provided with a connecting shank 2'5 upon which there is loosely mounted a rubber ring. or washer 26. r
The operation of the device is as follows:
To insert the stocking into the gripping device, the button I9 is slid'upwardly from the narrow portion I Baof the loop l8 into the wide portion 18b and disengaged therefrom, The upper portion of the stocking 20 is then placed over the button l9 and clamped thereabout and the rubber ring 26 by the engagement of the loop '18 therewith. To adjust the gripping device on the elastic strip or, garter I0, the said garter is 1? disengaged from the toothed bar l4, and slid into proper position and then reengaged with the said toothed bar.
It will be understood that due to the compara-' tively loose mounting of the rubber ring 26 on to give or move with the movement of the wearers leg, thus preventing tearing or runs, when the the shank 25, the stocking 20 will be permitted I den pull or jerk.
It will further be seen that due to the absence of joints between the button [9 and base '2 I, the stocking cannot be caught and torn by such joints. Furthermore, it will be seen that the entire device is very thin and will not cause any bulges in the dress of the wearer due to the fact that the elastic does not have to be folded over a and sewn to the supporting buckle in themanner now done in the button type of clamping de-' vice in common use;
A still further advantage of myimproved hose clamping device is that the frame is of a single piece and not of a. plurality of buckles or elasps joined by jackets or sleeves which are liable to.
come apart.
From the foregoing, it will be seen 'thatIhaVe I provided a simple and eflicient combined clamp and buckle that will'positively grip the hose without causing any runs therein, and one that can be readily adjusted on the garter strip without the use of a doubled or folded over elastic for the hose supporter or garter. I p f It will further be seen that the entire device may bereadily. slipped off the garter strip when the corset, is laundered without ripping {any stitches. 1 r r I Having described my invention, what I,claim as new and desire to secure by Letters'Patent is:
1. A hose, supporter gripping device,compris5. Y
2,012,707 stocking about the button is subjected to a sud ing a hose gripping loop-bearing frame, a base ing a frame, garter gripping means integral with the frame at one end thereof, a hose gripping loop integral with the frame at the opposite end thereof, a base plate suspended from the frame,
a shanked button integral with the base plate, and Janelastic ring rotatably'mounted on the buttonshank '4. A hose supporter gripping device, comprising an integralhose gripping loop-bearing and garter gripping frame, a base plate suspended from the said frame, a shanked button integral with the said base plate, and an elastic ring rotatablymounted on the button shank. e
5. A hose supportergripping device, comprising a hosegripping loop,-abase plate, a button on the: said base plate, and a yieldable ring rotatablysupported on the said button.
