Abstract

A degreasing cloth includes a ground thread woven on a first surface, that forms a plurality of closely-spaced holes, and a plurality of pile threads of a predetermined length extending from the first surface. Each of the pile threads is inserted and bound to the ground thread and comprises a loop. The thickness of the ground thread is substantially thicker than the thickness of the pile thread. The ground thread forms a mesh. The mesh comprises a pattern of hexagonal lattice. The greasing cloth may be formed into various applications including a pot cleaner and a laundry bag. The degreasing cloth goes under tenter process to give strength and roughness.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention relates to a degreasing cloth. More particularly, this invention relates to a degreasing cloth that is effective in retaining its shape against a degreased surface and removing and carrying grease.
  • Degreasing cloth is used for removing bulk amount of grease from utensils. The functions of degreasing cloth include removing grease from the surface of utensils, and carrying the grease for subsequent disposal.
  • Degreasing cloths by prior art were poor in these functions. They were easily deformed and lost effective contact with the surface to be degreased and thus scraping grease was not efficiently performed. Also, they were not effective in carrying the removed grease since the surfaces of the cloths were not uniformly used or the gap between threads of the cloth were not kept uniform.
  • Accordingly, a need for an improved degreasing cloth has been present for a long time.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention contrives to solve the disadvantages of the prior art.
  • An objective of the invention is to provide a degreasing cloth that keeps its shape against a surface to be degreased.
  • Another objective of the invention is to provide a degreasing cloth that effectively carries grease removed from a surface to be degreased.
  • In order to achieve the above objectives, the present invention provides a degreasing cloth that includes a ground thread woven on a first surface, that forms a plurality of closely-spaced holes, and a plurality of pile threads of a predetermined length extending from the first surface. Each of the pile threads is inserted and bound to the ground thread and comprises a loop. The thickness of the ground thread is substantially thicker than the thickness of the pile thread.
  • The ground thread forms a mesh. The mesh comprises a pattern of hexagonal lattice. The hexagon has a side of length of about one (1) to about ten (10) millimeters.
  • Alternatively, the mesh comprises a pattern of rectangle, rhomboid, or octagon.
  • The ground thread comprises a synthetic fibers. The synthetic fiber comprises a yarn of nylon, polyester, or rayon.
  • The pile thread comprises a yarn of cotton, nylon, polyester, or rayon.
  • The predetermined length of the pile thread is from about three (3) to about twenty (20) millimeters.
  • The pile thread comprises a single filament. Alternatively, the pile thread comprises a plurality of filaments. The pile thread is braided, and the size of the pile thread loop is larger than a predetermined value. The predetermined size of the pile thread loop is about five (5) millimeters.
  • The pile thread has a predetermined length above the surface defined by the ground thread. The predetermined length of the pile thread is from about three (3) to about twenty (20) millimeters.
  • The degreasing cloth may further comprise a sponge block that is attached to, or enclosed by the degreasing cloth.
  • The degreasing cloth may form a pouch that comprises a closable opening.
  • The ground thread and pile thread are heat treated. Specifically, the ground thread and pile thread go under tenter process.
  • The advantages of the present invention are: (1) the degreasing cloth keeps flatness of the ground thread surface and increases contact of the pile thread loops against a surface to be degreased; (2) the greasing cloth carries the grease that was removed from the surface; (3) the greasing cloth has a substantially improved scouring power.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • FIG. 1 shows a degreasing cloth 10 that includes a ground thread 12 woven on a first surface 14, that forms a plurality of closely-spaced holes 16, and a plurality of pile threads 18 of a predetermined length extending from the first surface 14. Each of the pile threads 18 is inserted and bound to the ground thread 12 and comprises a loop 20. The thickness of the ground thread 12 is substantially thicker than the thickness of the pile thread 18.
  • The ground thread 12 comprises more filaments than the pile thread 18. In the embodiment shown, the pile thread 18 extends out from the middle portion the ground thread 12. The ground thread 12 and pile thread 18 are heat-treated. Specifically, the ground thread and pile thread go under tenter process.
  • The ground thread 12 forms a mesh 22. The mesh 22 comprises a pattern of hexagonal lattice. The hexagon has a side of length of about one (1) to about ten (10) millimeters.
  • In this way, the threads are strengthened, and during the pile threads 18 scour a surface and removes grease, the ground thread keeps flatness of the mesh 22.
  • Alternatively, the mesh 22 may comprise a pattern of rectangle, rhomboid, or octagon.
  • The ground thread 12 comprises synthetic fibers. The synthetic fiber comprises a yarn of nylon, polyester, or rayon.
  • The pile thread 18 comprises a yarn of cotton, nylon, polyester, or rayon.
  • The pile thread 18 comprises a single filament. Alternatively, the pile thread 18 comprises a plurality of filaments. In this case, the pile thread is braided, and the size of the pile thread loop is larger than a predetermined value. The predetermined size of the pile thread loop is about five (5) millimeters.
  • FIG. 2 shows that the pile thread 18 has a predetermined length L above the surface defined by the ground thread 12. The predetermined length of the pile thread 18 is from about three (3) to about twenty (20) millimeters.
  • FIGS. 3 and 4 show that the degreasing cloth further comprises a sponge block 24 that is attached to, or enclosed by the degreasing cloth. The degreasing cloth with the sponge block is suitable for a pot cleaner.
  • FIG. 5 shows that the degreasing cloth forms a pouch 26 that comprises a closable opening 28. The pouch is suitable for a laundry bag.
  • The degreasing cloth 10 can be manufactured with commercially available well-known machines such as Double Fringe machine, Double Lossel machine, or Warp Knitting machine.
  • While the invention has been shown and described with reference to different embodiments thereof, it will be appreciated by those skilled in the art that variations in form, detail, compositions and operation may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the accompanying claims.

Claims (20)

1. A degreasing cloth comprising:
a) a ground thread woven on a first surface, wherein the ground thread forming a plurality of closely-spaced holes; and
b) a plurality of pile threads of a predetermined length extending from the first surface,
wherein each of the pile threads is inserted and bound to the ground thread and comprises a loop, wherein the thickness of the ground thread is substantially thicker than the thickness of the pile thread.
2. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the ground thread forms a mesh.
3. The degreasing cloth of claim 2, wherein the mesh comprises a pattern of hexagonal lattice.
4. The degreasing cloth of claim 3, wherein the hexagon has a side of length of about one (1) to about ten (10) millimeters.
5. The degreasing cloth of claim 2, wherein the mesh comprises a pattern of rectangle, rhomboid, or octagon.
6. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the ground thread comprises a synthetic fibers.
7. The degreasing cloth of claim 6, wherein the synthetic fiber comprises a yarn of nylon, polyester, or rayon.
8. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the pile thread comprises a yarn of cotton, nylon, polyester, or rayon.
9. The degreasing cloth of claim 8, wherein the predetermined length of the pile thread is from about three (3) to about twenty (20) millimeters.
10. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the pile thread comprises a single filament.
11. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the pile thread comprises a plurality of filaments.
12. The degreasing cloth of claim 11, wherein the pile thread is braided, wherein the size of the pile thread loop is larger than a predetermined value.
13. The degreasing cloth of claim 12, wherein the predetermined size of the pile thread loop is about five (5) millimeters.
14. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the pile thread has a predetermined length above the surface defined by the ground thread.
15. The degreasing cloth of claim 16, wherein the predetermined length of the pile thread is from about three (3) to about twenty (20) millimeters.
16. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, further comprising a sponge block that is attached to the degreasing cloth.
17. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, further comprising a sponge block that is enclosed by the degreasing cloth.
18. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the degreasing cloth forms a pouch that comprises a closable opening.
19. The degreasing cloth of claim 1, wherein the ground thread and pile thread are heat treated.
20. The degreasing cloth of claim 19, wherein the ground thread and pile thread go under tenter process.
