' 1 Claim.

This invention relates to an improved toilet seat cover, the purpose of the invention is to supply'all public toilets with a sufficient quantity of covers to last an entire day, thereby furnishing each user with a clean sanitary surface to the water.

Another purpose is to provide a toilet seat cover made entirely of such papers material as will be suitable without any metallic fastening means whatever or without stickers of any kindyand yet so construct the toilet seat cover as to provide means for holding the cover in place as the user is in the act of assuming a sitting posture thereon. As is well known thedirection of move-' ment of the user is downward and as a rule slight-, ly rearwardly, and most seatcovers heretofore,

have been provided with some attaching means at the rear, in which event the cover is very apt to also move rearwardly, hence it is another purpose to provide an attaching means for the cover, as forming a part of the cover itself inconjunction with the bumpers on the under surface of the seat, thereby preventing the cover from moving rearwardlywith the movement of the body of the user.

Another purpose is to provide a toilet seat cover, the forward or lower leaf of the cover (due to the fact that these covers maybe hung adjacent the toilet seat on'some suitable support, or otherwise arranged) to be folded under the seat and engaged between the bumpers or buffers (which ordinarily rest upon the porcelain bowl or hopper) and the edge of the bowl or hopper,

when the seat is lowered, thereby anchoringthe cover in position and preventing its sliding movement rearwardly as the user assumes a. sitting posture. Another purpose is the provision of a cover of this kind where the folded under leaf is provided with a Vshaped cut out portion which is incident to the forward portion of the opening in the seat, thereby preventing any contact between the forward leaf of the cover and the users person when .in sitting posture, the remote side portions of the leaf in this event engages between the bumpers or abutments (which are usually on the under surface of the seat) and the edge of the bowl or hopper.

It is to be understood that the particulars herein given are in no way limitative, and that while still keeping within the scope of the invention, any desired modification of details'and proportions may be made in the construction of the appliance according to circumstances.

The invention comprises further features and combination of parts to be hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawing and claimed.

. Referring to-the drawing l identifies the cover as'a whole, and whichv may be made of any suitable paper material, such as will pass off with thewater in the bowl or hopper in a'small compass. V

It is obvious that the cover may vbe'made of any dimensions such as will permit of its purposes I and may be made of any shape preferably rectangular as shown. The cover has an opening 2, substantially conforming to but smaller than the opening 3in the toilet seat 4. This cover when applied is disposed upon the seat so that its opening will substantially register with the opening in the seat, in which eventthe forward leaf 7 of the cover may be folded under the forward end of the seat, in which case the remote side portions' 8 may engage between the rubber bumpers 9 on the under surface of the seat I and the edge of the bowl or hopper and by the disposition of these remote sides the cover is prevented from moving rearwardly as the user is assuming a sittin posture. j

These side portions are caused to be formed by providing the cover with a central cut out portion III, which may be of anysuitable shape, the central cut out portoin serving to avoid con- .tact of the users person with the cover when in service.

It is obvious that if preferred it is possible to discard the used toilet seat covers in waste paperv containers, such as those in which the paper towels are-discarded, instead of disposing of the covers into the hopper. l

The invention having been set forth, what is claimed is: I r
