IMPROVEMENT IN` GUARDS FOR'IHARNESS-BUCKLES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,946, dated January 8, 1878 application iiled october 13, 1877;

' To'all lwhom it may concern:

Be it known that I, THOMAS P. KEMP, of Lawrence, in the county of Essex` and Oommonwealth of Massachusetts,have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Guards for Harness-Buckles., not known or used before, of which the following is a full,

clear, and exact description.

The letter A represents my improved guard, l

having a loop'at its top designed to claspa strap, and a metallic strip at its tongue end g B, a strap; C, abuckle; D, aloop; E, a strap,

to which a buckle is secured; and F, ametallic strip attached to the guard-tongue, and

designed to aid in inserting the tongue within the loop.

In carrying out my invention I apply the guard A by passing its loop over the strap of a harness, leaving the tongue of the guard to pass over the buckle O and into the loop D.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patentf 1. The combination, with aA harness-buckle and strap, of the adjustable buckle-guard, arranged substantially as shown, for the purpose stated.

2. The buckle-guard A, provided with the metallic strip F, for the purpose set forth.
