LEVI HARSH, OF GOLDEN CITY, COLORADO.
IMPROVEMENT IN SCISSORS AND SHEARS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,297, dated December 18, 1877; application filed May 19, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEVI HABSH, of Golden City, Jefferson county, and State of Colorado, have invented new and useful Improvements in Scissors; and I hereby declare that the following is an exact and true description of my invention, which will enable others to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, and to the figures and letters of reference marked thereon.
The object of my invention is to provide for a guide and roller for scissors, by aid of which fabrics may be cut by them with greater ease and accuracy, and curves may be cut with greater precision, than can be done with scissors not provided with this attachment.
My invention consists in pivoting a wheel or roller in a groove cut into the lower front end in one of the blades of a pair of scissors. Referring to the drawing, which represents a side view of a pair of scissors, A and B are the blades of a pair of scissors. C is the roller or wheel, pivoted on axle or rivet e in the groove d, which is cut into the blade A.
I am well aware that friction-rollers have been placed in the heel of scissors, and I therefore do not wish to be understood as claiming, broadly, the use of friction-rollers in scissors; but
What I desire to claim is- The wheel or roller 0, when placed in the groove 01, and revolving on the axle or journal e in the outer end, near to the point of the lower blade A of a pair of scissors, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
