COMBINATION BRACELET AND COSMETIC HOLDER Filed Aug. 11, 1934 INVENTOR.
' ATTORNEY.
Patented Got. 2, 1934 COMBINATION BRACELET AND COSMETIC HOLDER Jules I. Hackel,
Application August 11,
4 Claims.
This invention relates to combined bracelets and cosmetic holders and has for one of its objects the provision of such a device comprising a sheet metal frame bent up or ribbed at one portion thereof to form compartments for supporting cosmetic boxes or cases, the remainder of said frame being covered with a layer of any suitable material such as for instance hard rubber, bakelite, bone, ivory, pyroxylin, etc.
Another object of the invention is to produce such an article which will present an even exterior, and will not be encumbered with hideous bulges or extensions.
Another object is to produce a device of the character described in which the maximum simplicity of construction and operation is secured.
Other objects and advantages will appear as the nature of the improvements is better understood, the invention consisting substantially in the novel arrangement and co-relation of parts herein fully described, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein similar reference characters are used to describe corresponding parts throughout the several views, and then finally pointed out and specifically defined and indicated in the appended claims.
The disclosure made the basis of exemplifying the present inventive concept suggests a practical embodiment thereof, but the invention is not to be restricted to the exact details of this disclosure, and the latter, therefore, is to be understood from an illustrative, rather than a restrictive standpoint.
The inventive idea involved is capable of receiving a variety of mechanical expressions, one of which, for the purpose of illustration, is shown in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is an end View of my improved bracelet and cosmetic holder; Figure 2 is a top plan view thereof with a portion of one of the cosmetic holders broken away; Figure 3 is a fragmental sectional view taken on line 3-3, Figure 1; Figure 4 is a fragmental perspective view of the metal frame; Figure 5 is a fragmental sectional view of a modified form of the invention; and Figure 6 is a top plan view thereof.
Referring now to the drawing in detail, 10 indicates a band preferably made of thin sheet metal bent to fit the wrist and provided with bent up walls or ribs 11 which divide the upper portion of the frame into compartments 12, 13 and 14. The compartments 13 and 15 are made large enough for the reception of the usual or standard size rouge or powder compact or boxes 16, while the central compartment 14 is large enough for New York, N. Y.
1934, Serial No. 739,421
either riveted, brazed or soldered to the band 10 or they may be otherwise held in their respective compartments as for instance by friction.
It will be seen by referring to the Figures 1 to 3 of the drawing that access may be had to the interior of the rouge and powder boxes 16 by,
merely swinging the lids or covers 21 upwardly and the lipstick 22 may be withdrawn from its casing by pulling same upwardly as shown in Figure 2.
In Figures 5 and 6 I have shown a modified form I of the invention wherein instead of bending the band 10 upwardly to provide the compartments I depress the said band to form a sunken compartment 25. While I have shown this modification as comprising but a single such compartment it is to be understood that a plurality of such compartments may be provided if desired.
In this embodiment of my invention 1 have shown the lipstick holder casing 20a as pivoted at 26 upon which pivot it may be swung upwardly by the insertion of a finger nail under the extension 27 provided for this purpose to withdraw the lipstick. A detent 28 maintains the lipstick receptacle in normal lowered position. Inasmuch as the compartment is depressed, a nonmetallic lining 29 is provided at the inside of the band 10. If desirable a thin outer covering 18a may also be provided.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided a simple inexpensive and yet attractive and efficient combined bracelet and. cosmetic holder.
Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A combined bracelet and cosmetic holder comprising a frame, spaced apart walls bent from said frame to form a compartment therebetween, a receptacle secured in the said compartment, and a segment of suitable material on the said frame extending between the outer surfaces of.
the walls.
2. A combined bracelet and cosmetic holder, comprising a frame, spaced apart walls bent from said frame to form a plurality of compartments,
4. A combined bracelet and cosmetic holder, comprising a substantially thin sheet metal band, a pair of spaced apart walls bent downwardly from the said band to form a compartment, a cosmetic receptacle pivotally mounted in the said compartment and a non-metallic filling segment secured to the band and extending between the outer surfaces of the said walls.
JULES I. HACKEL.
