Referring noW to Fig. 5, the hangers 43 are single hangers and consist of a single curved cross piece 44, hanging member 46 and inwardly projecting members 45 and plug member 47.
Referring noW again to Fig. 1, one form of stand supporting the hangers may comprise a heavy base 50, a shank 51 in which a rod 52 telescopes. A suitable clamping device, such as a setscrew 53, may be provided for clamping together the members l and 52 with the hanger adjusted to the proper height.
Referring to Fig. 4, the support is shown attached to a door 62 by means of a bracket 60. The support is indicated by 61 and has a. socket member 63 for carrying any of the hangers above described. It will be noted that this support may be attached to either or both sides of a door.
In Fig. 5, socket 54 on the support 52 carries a plug 56 connected to an adapter 55 which carries a plurality of sockets 57. Each socket 57 may carry a hanger 43 or any of the other hangers above described.
Thus, a system for supporting garments has been described in which hangers may be hung from a suitable hook, or supported from beneath on a suitable stand. The above constructions may be used either in the home or in the showroom and may be used for supporting articles of either male or female attire. It will be understood that any of the types of stands or supports described may be used for supporting any of the types of hangers and that the particular combinations shown are shown merely for purposes of explanation.
While certain novel features of the invention have been disclosed and are pointed out in the annexed claims, it Will be understood that various omissions, substitutions and changes may be made by those skilled in the art Without departing from the spirit of the invention.
What is claimed is:
l. In a garment holder, a cross piece, a strap loop Whose upper and lower plies extend from one end of the cross piece to the other, a suspension element connected to the middle of the upper ply of said strap loop, means detachably connecting said strap loop to one end of said cross piece, and means for permanently connecting said strap loop to the other end of said cross piece.
2. In a garment holder, a cross piece, a flexible strap loop whose upper and lower plies both extend from one end of the cross piece to the other above the cross piece, and a suspension element connected to the middle of the upper ply of said strap loop.
