IMPROVEMENT IN COMBINED OVERALLS AND JUMPER.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 193,149, dated July 17, 1877; application filed June 18, 1877.
To all Iwhom yitmay concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL H. EMANUEL, of Gloucester, in the county of Essex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Gombined'Overalls and Jumper, ot' which the following is aspecitication:

My invention relates to anv improvement in combined overalls and jumper, and has for its object to increase the strength and durability, improve the tit and appearance, and lessen the cost of such garments. I attain these results by constructing the garment as hereinafter described and claimed.
In the drawing', A A are the main pieces of which the garment is composed, which are cut so that the seams a b and a, c, and the seams d eat the shoulders; are all that are required to complete the main portion of the garment. n
The pieces A are entire from the shoulders to the feet, and there is no seam at theside. The armholes are cnt on the curved line e f, and the sleeves are set in in the same manner as they are commonly setinto a coat. The shoulder-seams are secured by a stay-piece, h, and the front of the garment. is fastened by buttons in the usual Way.
Openings z' are made at the sides to admit of putting the hands into the pants pockets. Said openings are provided with right-angled tiaps' or covers k, which are fastened by buttons l.
Adjusting-straps m are attached to the back of the garment, and a rule-pocket, n, and hip-pocket o, are also provided.
The great advantage secured by my improvement is that the seams most liable to rip in garments of ordinary manufacture are avoided, and a stronger and better-fitting garment is produced.
It is also apparent that by lessening the number of' seams I reduce the labor and expense of producing the garment.
I am aware it is not new to form the front of a combined overalls and jumper in two parts or sections, extending from the neckband to the bottom of the legs, and united on the back ot' the hips by a seam extending to the waist, the shoulder-piece or back proper being made separate and united to the front parts or sections by a transverse back seam and vertical seams under the arms.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combined overalls and jumper, consisting of the sections A A, united by the seam a b at the back, and having the leg-portions united by seams a c, the whole being made without seams at the sides or around the waist, and provided with pockets and pocketopenings, 'substantially as herein shown and described.
