' 2 Claims. (01. 232 42 This invention relates to improvements in milk bottle locks, and has for its object to provide a simple, cheap and efiicient device for looking a milk bottle when the milk is delivered so that the same cannot be stolen, or removed by an unauthorized person;
The invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of the parts and combination of parts hereinafter more fully set forth in the following specifications and pointed out in detail in the appended claims;

Referring to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification, and in which like reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views thereof, 1 designates the lock case, the back 2 of which is held thereto by the rivets 3. 'The' case 1 is held to the door frame 4 by means of the screws 5 passing through the lugs 6. In the top of the case 1 is a pocket 7 in which the locking loop 8 is held when not in use. The back plate 2 has an integral lug 9' extending across from top to bottom and having a cut out 10 in which the locking bar 11 operates. The case 1 has an aperture 12 in the front thereof. The back plate 2-has a curved flange 13 near one end thereof which is provided with a, recess 14 through vwhich the end of the locking bar 11 projects. The said locking bar 11 is pivoted at one end and extends through the recess 10 and across the opening l2 and has its opposite end bent at right angles and projecting through the recess 14. The said locking bar 11 is held in its normal position, as shown in Figure l of the drawing, by means of the spring 15, which latter has one end secured in the lug 9 and its opposite end resting upon, and exerting its tension on, the said locking bar 11. The locking loop 8 is made of spring steel with its extremities 16 normally apart. The said extremities 16 are each provided with a recess 17 and have their outer ends beveled at 18. The case 1 is secured to the door frame 4 close to the door 19 so that when the bottle is locked to the case it will be impossible to reach the end of the locking bar 11 to release the locking ring until the door 19 is open.
When it is desired to lock the bottle in. positlon, the loop 8 is removed from the pocket 7 and forced over the top of the bottle and the ends forced together and pushed in through the opening 12 when the beveled edges 18 of the locking loop 8 will force the locking bar 11 up against the action of the spring 15 until the ends of the loop have entered far enough to permit the locking bar 11 to drop in the recesses 1'7, thereby locking the bottle in position as shown in Figure 2 of the drawing. When it is desired to release the bottle the door 19 is opened and the locking bar 11 can be raised by inserting the finger in the end of the case 1 and raise the locking bar 11 far enough to release it from the locking loop 8 when the latter'can be pulled out and the loop removed from the bottle and placed in the pocket 7, as shown in Figure 1 of the drawing, ready for use-again.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is;-
1. A milk bottle lock comprising a case having an aperture in the front thereof and a curved flange near one end thereof provided with an in said case and extending acrossthe aperture in the front of the case and havlng its free end projecting through the aperture in the said curved flange, means for holding the locking bar in its normal position, and a locking loop having its .ends projecting outwardly and normally apart and adapted to be inserted in the aperture in the front of the case, the extremities of said locking loop being each provided with a recess near the outer end and a beveled outer end adapted to co-operate with the locking bar to hold the locking loop in the locked position.
2. A milk bottle lock comprising a case having an aperture in the front thereof and a curved flange near one end thereof provided with an aperture, the said flange forming a curved recess in the end of the case, a locking bar pivoted at one end within the case and extending across the aperture in the front of the case and having its free end projecting through the aperture in the "curved flange and terminating within the curved recess in the end of the case, means for holding the locking bar in its normal position,
and a locking loop having its ends projecting outwardly and normally apart and adapted to be inserted in theaperture in the front of the case, the extremities of said locking loop being each provided with a recess near its outer end and a beveled outer end adapted to'co-operate with the locking bar to hold the locking loop in the locked position.
