Description

July H 1933 c. STOLZ 1,917,908
LADY S UNDERGARMENT v Filed Nov. 21, 1929 4,4. ATTORNEY Patented July 11, 1933 CATHERINE STOLZ, OF DAYTON, OHIO l LADYS HUNDERGARM/ENT Application filed November 21, 1329; Serial No. 408,-7D7.
This invention relates to new and useful 1m provement-s 111 a ladys undergarment.
It is the principal object of my invention.
to provide a one-piece undergarment, made of a fine, silk jei'sey,wliicli consists of hose, bloomers, garters and brassiere or vest. The garment is so constructed that is durable, attractive, and especially adaptable for stage work. i
it i s another object of my invention to use elastic means to produce a garmentjwhich will fit snugly to the body of the person wearing it.
Another object'of my invention is to provide in this garment, hose that extend much J will be brought out in the following specification and particularly set forth in the subjoined claims.
In the accompanying drawing illustrating my invention, Figure 1 is a front elevational view showing my combination undergarment, consisting; of the hose, bloomers and brassiere fitted to a human figure. Figure 2 is a front elevational view, similar to Figure 1, showing a vest used instead of the brassiere; Figure 3 is a side View showing the garter means, part of the hose, the lower portion of the bloomers and the ruffle trimming. Figure 4 is a back view of part of the garment showing the upper body portion and the back of the bloomers, and Figure 5 is a back view of the garment disclosed in Figure 1.
Referring to the accompanying drawing for a detailed description of my invention, the numeral 1 designates the hose, which are I preferably made of a thin silk, full fashioned, and which extend approximately eight inches above the knee to serve the purpose of tights. Fastened to the top edge of the hose 1, is
a wide silk elastic band 2, as shown in Figure 3. The elastic band is preferably two inches wide and provides garter means for the garment; The bloomers 3,- formed with an elastic girdle section 4, in both the front and back of the bloomers, are attached to the elastic band 2 of the hose 1.
Attached to the bloomers, and extending over the top of the hose 1 and elastic band 2 are three. rows of narrow lace rufiling, or}
any other suitable trimming; I
Extending longitudinally from the top of the elasticbands 2 to the. elastic girdle seciiioirft, are four elastic strips 5, one strip of class c-running directly up the front ofeach bloomei? leg, and one strip running directly up each side. It is this feature of the garment' that provides the snug, tight fit that is so desirable, and especially so when the garment is used for stage work.
ing section between the elastic girdle section 4 and the brassiere 6. (See Figure 1.) From the side seam of the brassiere, extendng across the back to the other side seam is a preferably three inch elastic-piece 6; shown in Figure 5. This piece of. elastic makes the brassiereform fitting and disposes of shoulder strap'means. A snapper opening 8 on the left under arm seam is provided for t-hepurpose of getting into and out of the garment more easily. v
By means of gathers along the side seams 9, and'a longitudinal piece of elasticmaterial 10 up the center portion, I provide a brassiere of the uplift style.
If it is not desired to have a garment which includes the brassiere portion, I have provided a plain vest 11 which forms the upper portion of the garment. The vest 11 is attached to the elastic girdle section 4 and has shoulder straps 12 which connect the front and back portion of said vest. (See F igure 2). i r
A piece of silk jersey 7 forms the connecti /Vhile I use a fine silk jerseyas the pre- I ferred material of which my garment is made, I do not want to limit myself solely to its use, as any other thin, silken material can satisfactorily be employed in its manufacture. I have also designated the use ofan uplift type brassiere, but, a straight type, or
' ployed;
any other type brassiere may also be em- Itis thus seen that my combination onepiece ladys undergarment, as above described, combines four separate pieces of clothing ordinarily Worn by ladies, and it also combines usefulness, durability and attractiveness.
If it is not desired to include in the garment the brassiere or vest portion, my garment can be constructed so as, to-consistiof: only the hose, bloomers and garters.
Having described my invention, Iclaiin:
1. A ladys one-piece i'lndergarment consisting of hose extending Well 'above the knees, a bloomer" portion, wideelastic bands serving. as garter means connectingthe bloomer portion .to the upperedge part of the. hose, an elastic girdle section integral with the bloom? er portion to fornrthe top'thereof, elastic stripsextending from the garter 'means to the elastic girdle section, and an upperbody piece connectecLto-the bloomer portion-to complete the garment. a r 1 1 2. Aladys one piece undergarmentconsisting. of hose eXtendingJWel-I above the knees, bloomerportion, .Wide elastic bands serving as garter means connecting the; bloomer; portion to the upper edge part of the hose, an
elastic girdle section integral with the bloomer portion to form the top thereof, a brassiere portion, and connecting material between the girdle section and the brassiere to complete the garment.
3. A ladys one-piece undergarment consisting of hose extending: Well above the knees, a bloomcr portion, Wide elastic bands serving as garter means connecting the b loomerrportionzto the upper edge part of the hose, an elastic girdle section integral with thebloomer portion to form the top thereof, a brassiere portion, and an elastic section forming the baclr'of the brassire.
lrBloomers for Womens Wear, consisting of an elastic girdle section andltwo clownwardly extending leg; portions, garter means and a plurality oflelastie strips cxtending.
from the garter means to. the elastic girdle section, one strip :of elastic running directly downthe frontofeach bloomer legxmdone running-directlydown each side thereof,.to efiect a snug, tight fit between the bloomers and :the wearer.
