Description
May 30, 1933. R KROPAC 1,911,451
HAIR WAVING COMB Filed Jan. 18, 1933 F06 ffrapa a INVENTOR ATTOR N EY Patented May 30, 1933 UNITED STATES ROSE KROPAC, OF TRENTON, NEW JERSEY HAIR WAVING COMB Application filed January 18, 1933. Serial No. 652,378.
This invention relates to hair waving combs and more particularly to attachments therefor, and has for the primary object, the provision of means for efliciently maintaining the combs in proper position for setting a wave in the hair without danger of the combs becoming disarranged and also ob.- viates the employment of hair pins for holding the combs in place and permits quicker drying of the hair due to the hair becoming waved without the use of sticky fluid heretofore required in hair waving.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation illustrating hair waving combs assembled by attachments constructed in accordance with my invention. I
Figure 2 is an edge view illustrating the attachments applied to combs.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2. v 30 Figure 4 is a fragmentary view illustrating combs prior to being connected by the attachment.
Referring in detail to the drawing, the numeral 1 indicates a set of combs especially adapted for waving hair. It has been customary to retain such combs in their proper relation within the hair by employing hair pins and from actual experience this has proven disadvantageous due to the fact that 4 the combs become separated or disarranged and to overcome these disadvantages my invention is employed which consists of flexible clamps 2, each comb having applied thereto a pair of clamps and the pairs of clamps cooperating with each other in retaining the combs in proper position to set a wave in the hair. Each clamp is of substantially U-shape and has one end apertured to receive a screw or like fastener 3- secured to the comb, while the opposite end is provided with a slot 4. When the combs Y are assembled in the hair with one upon the other, the clamps of each set overlie and grip each other with the notched end of each clamp engaged with the screw or fastener 3 of the companion clamp. Thus it will be seen that the combs are effectively held in hair setting position against accidental movement relative to each other'which permits the hair to be more efi'ectively waved and eliminates the employment. of sticky liquid heretofore applied to the hair in order to cause the hair to set in a wave. By eliminating the use of such liquid, the hair more readily dries as it is only'necessary to dampen or wet the hair with water.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, as
claimed. I
Having described the invention, I claim: 1. A hair waving device including cooperating combs, pairs of substantially U-shaped resilient clips pivoted to each comb, the clips of one pair adapted to engage over and grip the clips of the other pair.
2. A hair waving device including cooperating combs, pairs of substantially U-shaped resilient clips pivoted to each comb, the clips of one pair adapted to engage over and grip the clips of the other pair, each clip having one end notched'to receive the pivot connecting the companion clip to a comb.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ROSE KROPAC.
