There are already on the market ,numer-' ous cases for lipsticks in which the lipstick is released from the case (holder) by sliding. 'This arrangement, however, presents certain inconveniences; .For. example,,the movable cap which completes and closes the case must be removed whenever one wants to use the lipstick and on account of this it can easily be lost.

In the improved case, which is the subject matter of the invention, the lipstick is released from the case also by sliding, but

the closing member of the case is integral with the said case and is constituted by two undulated-members, guided by slides and sliding in the case and meeting at the end 1 of the case, these undulated members re- 1. To prevent that the lipstick can be displaced or moved in the case when the shuttersare closed and therefore to prevent that the end of the lipstick crushes against the said shutters; I

2. To hold fast the shutters in the open position when the lipstick is out, in order to avoid that the latter is'cut or sheared bythe said shutters. I

3. To prevent any displacement of the lipstick during the closing of the shutters which would produce the same inconvenient feature, i. e, the cutting of the lipstick by the shutters.

The following specification, together with the attached drawings, given by way of 7 example, show clearly in what manner the invention can be realized.

case is constituted by a body 1 of an elonengaging in the body 1 of the case, in such a manner that they can slide freely.

To the end of the tube 5 and by means of screws 5, there is fixed a bottom 10, having 5 the same section as the body of the case, so that when in closed position (Fig. 1), this bottom constitutes the heel or base of the case.

One can understand that the opening and the closing of the shutters is very simple, as can be noted from Figs. 1 and 2. It is done by holdin with one hand the body 1 of the case and rawing or pushing with the other hand at the bottom 10.

The shutters 4 being open, one can, by means of the mechanism which-is described below, cause the lipstick to come out, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.

Inside of the case there is arranged the lipstick 6 the sliding of which is caused by thepush button 7, the shank of which slides at the same time in a slot 8 of the body 1 of .the case, which slot is oblique (inclined) with respect to the longitudinal axis of the case, as can be seen from Figs. 7 and 8, and in a slot 15, having the same incline,'of a tube 5.

The operation of the case comprises the following operations:

(01) Opening of the shutters 4, (Figs. 1 and 7) with one hand draw the bottom 10 of the case in the direction-of the arrow F, while holding the body of the case (Figs. 2

The lipstick'fi ,is displaced transversely in I the direction of the arrow F Fig. 8, in order to bring its shank 14 to the end of the inclined slot-8 which unlocks the cap 12 of the lipstick 6. At the same time the shank 14, engaged in the notch 17 of plate 18 (Fig.

13) takes along the latter transversely and the spur 20 of the said small plate engages in the transverse slot 16 of the tube 5 (Fig. 11) which prevents the displacement of the the opening position.

At this moment the lipstick 6 can be freel moved by pushing the button 7, the sha A 14 of which slides both in the slot 8 and in the slot 15, which at the time of the opening of the shutters, has come in the position under the slot 8 (Figs. 8 and 9); on this last' mentioned figure the lipstick has been shown completely released from the'case, but it is obvious that at the time of its use, one will only release the nepessary quantity in order not to risk the breaking of it. f

' After using the lipstick it sufiices, in order to have it go back into the case, to slide the push button 7 in the slot 8 inorder to bring same u to part 8. During this displacementt e shutters cannot close, because, as has been noted previously, any longitudinal displacement of the tube 5 is prevented.

When the lipstick has completely entered the case, the tube 5 is unlocked by transversely displacing the button 7 in the part 8 of the slot 8 in the direction opposite to that of arrow F.- At this moment the shank 14 is engaged in the. part 8; the lipstick Furthermore, when the two

8 and 15" -bottom'10 which is in this, way locked in' are superposed (Fig. 8), the inclined posi-j tion assures a certain wedging of the shank 14 by friction of the shank in the slot, which maintains the lipstick in the protruding position (Fig. 9) and prevents its returnin into the case under the pressure exercise against the lips.

One, could finally contemplate that the displacement of the shutter operates directly the pushing out of the lipstick.

For this purpose the shutters could be prolonged up to the base of the tube forming half a circle at the end and wouldcome to rest against the bottom of the cap 12 which maintains the stick, in such a position thatby lowering the upper part of the shutters by hand or by any other suitable operation, in order to release the opening, the lower part would come up and cause the lipstick to project from the case.

One can clearly note that any displacement of the lipstick obtained byletting the tion shown in Fig. 16 to the position shown in Fi 17, brings about directly a carrying alon movement, in the direction in-- verse to t at of the

24 and 25 which are brought back into the body 1 of the case, and uncovers the' opening 28 provided in the point of the case in such a manner that the lipstick can leave the case freely.

I I It is clearly evident that changes in detail can be made in the embodiments or realizations described above without in this way going beyond thescope of this invention.

' What I claim is: v

1. A case for lipsticks comprising a body, a tube slidable therein and projecting throu h the rear end of the body, and coacting s utters .forming front extensions of the tube for opening and closing .the front end of the body as the tube is moved rearwardly and forwardly respectively.

2. A case for lipsticks comprising a body,

a tube slidable therein and. projecting through the rear end of the body, coacting shutters forming front extensions of the tube for openin and closing the front end of the body as e tube is moved rearwardly and forwardly respectively, and guidesthe' closing of the case by the shutters 24 and for said shutters at the front end of the shutters forming front extensions of the tube for opening and closing the front end of the body, a lipstick holder slidable in the tube, and means for automatically locking the lipstick holder against movement during the opening and closing movement of the shutters.

5. A case for lipsticks comprising a body, a tube slidable therein and projecting through the rear end of the body, coacting shutters forming front extensions of the tube for opening and closing the front end of the body, a lipstick holder slidable in the tube, and coacL'n means between the body, tube and lipstick holder for locking the lipstick holder against movement during the opening and closing movement of the shutters.

A case for lipsticks comprising a body, a tube slidable therein .and projecting through the rear end of the body, coacting shutters forming front extensions of the tube for opening andclosing the front end of the body, a lipstick holder slidable in the tube, means for sliding the lipstick holder, and

' coacting means between the body, the tube and the lipstick holder for locking the lippositions. 7

A case for lipsticks comprising a body, a tube slidable therein and projecting through the rear end of the body, coacting shutters formin front extensions of the tube for opening an closing the front end of the body, a lipstick holder slidable in the tube, and coacting means between the body, the tube and the lipstick holder for causing oposite relative movements of the tube and 'pstick holder whereby the opening and closing of the shutters will cause the for-- ward and rearward movement of the lipstick holder and vice versa. a p
