net of improved construction, having adrawer for containing toilet articles, or a mans shaving set and the like, and having, as a part of the cabinet, a mirror, arranged to be automatically moved into voperative, position whenever the drawer of the cabinet is withdrawn, and automatically moved back into the cabinet and covered up whenever the drawer is pushed back into place. With .this primary object and other minor vobjects and advantages in View, this invention consists in the several novel features hereinafter set forth and claimed.

The invention is clearly illustrated in the drawing furnished herewith, in which- Figure 1, is a perspective view of a complete toilet cabinet embodying the present invention, and showing the 'drawer' withdrawn, and the mirror in operative position; Fig. 2, is a longitudinal sect-ion through the cabinet showing, in dotted lines, the several parts occupying the positions assumed when the drawer is withdrawn; Fig. 3,.is a detail cross sect-ion taken on line .33fof Fig. 2, and Fig. 4, is a detail longitudinal section through the'fragment of the cover of the box showing a latch for locking the drawer and. cover in closed position. i

The drawer 12, rests and slides upon the base molding 11, (see Fig. 3,) and the side walls 14, of the box are provided at their upper edges with strips 15, that over-hang the side walls 16, ofthe drawer; when fully closed, the rear ends of the'side walls .16, practically reach the. rear wall 17, of the box 10.

rest upon they upper edges of the box 10, and close its open top, a latch 20, being provided at the front 'end of the cover for locking the parts together. Said latch, (see Flg. 4,) is shown as having a hook 21, 4pivot-A ed to the cover, and arranged to engage a latch plate 22, secured to the cross member 23, of the box 10, and said hook member is operated by a push button 24, pivotally con-v nected to said hook, and normally heldin rised position by a coiled compression s ring 25, seated in a recess in thecove 18, and bearing against the head of the b tto'n 24. A plate 26, is secured to thetop of the cover over said recess, and has a .central openingthrough which ,projects the head of the button 24; a shouldered portion of the head is arranged to strike against said plate ,when pressed upward lo'y the spring 25. It is'evident that by pressing down upon the button 24, the hook1 '21, may be disengaged from the latch plate'22, to unlock the cover Hinged to the upper edgeof the rear Wall 27 of the drawer, as by hinges 28, is a mirrer ,29, whose vother end is hinged to the under side of the cover 18, near its free or forward end, as by hinges 30. The mirror, in accordance with the usual practice, comprises a. rectangular frame 31, in which is supported a looking glass 32. The back wall 27, of the drawer 12, is of a less height than theside walls 16, thereof, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2, so as to afford a triangular relationship between the hinges 19,'30, and 28, whereby when the drawer is moved forward, the mirror, through its hinged connection with said drawer and cover, acts to swing said cover upward; a coiled compression spring 33, is secured to the rear side of the back drawer wall 27, and abuts against the rear wall 17, of the box 10, said spring acting topush the drawer forward whenever the button 24, is de ressed and' the latch 20,

Assuming the parts to be in the position shown in solid lines in Fi 2, wherein the drawer and cover occupyllly closed positions ;-by depressing the button 24, and unlocking the cover,` the spring 33, instantly moves the drawer forward a slight distance, and as a consequence, the mirror 29, swings the cover 18, upward, after which the drawer may be pulled to its fully extended positi'on, that is until the mirror 29, strikes against the cross bar'23, and limits the withdrawal of the drawer. vThe parts arel so proportioned that when the drawer iis opened, the mirror occupies a posit-ion inclining slightly toward the rear of the cabinet, and forms the support 'for the free end of the cover V18. To close the drawer and cover, the drawer is simply slid back into closed position, thereby moving the lower end of the mirror back with it, and as a consequence, swinging down the cover until it is closed, whereupon the hook 21, engages the latch plate 22, and locks the parts together.

From the above, it is perfectly evident a very neat, Acompact and serviceable toilet cabinet isaforded which occupies but little space, and yet, may be made to contain many useful toilet articles, or a shaving set, as well as a mirror, which is automatically brought into operative or unoperative position by the simple manipulation of the drawer, containing the toilet articles.

I vclaim as n'ew and desire to secure by Letters Patent:

l. In a toilet cabinet, a rectangular box having an open top, and an open end, a drawer slidably mounted in said box, and

movable through -said lopen end, a coverl hinged to said box, and a mirror hinged to said drawer and cover, and acting to automatically open and close the cover whenever the drawer is withdrawn from and pushed back into the box.

2. In a toilet cabinet, a rectangular box having an open top, and an open end, a drawer slidably mounted in said box, and movable throughl said open end, a 'cover for said box, hinged thereto at the end opposite to said open end, and a mirror hinged to the back wall of said drawer, and hinged to the under side of said cover, near its free end.
