This invention relates to a foldable buckle and has for one of its ,objects'to provide means for securing the bracelet end to the buckle in different positions of adjustment.
Anothermobject of this invention is the provision of holding means between one of: the buckle sections and a memberpivoted thereto for securing awariety of different adjusted positions of'thebracelet chain in its connection to thebuckle. V
Another object of this invention is the provision of different catches, any one of which the chain may engage, some of which are on'one part and someon another part swingable relative thereto, theparts cooperating to maintain the chain in engagement, with a selected desired catch forits adj ust ed position. j
A further object of the inventionis the provisionof an adjustable construction in a position where it will be maintained in securing position: by the folding of the sections. of the foldable buckle one over the, other, requiring an unfolding of the sections to permit of diflerent adjustments;
With these and other objects and advan-. tageous-features in view, the invention 'consists of a novel arrangement of parts more fully disclosed in the detailed'description following, in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, and more particularly set forth in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawing l Fig. l is a top plan view of the' buckle-in folded position. i Fig. 2 is a topplan view of the buckle in extended unfolded. position and exposing the adjustment means. I n
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the end or body'section of the buckle.
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the pivote member for retaining the end link of the chain in adjusted position Fig. 5 is aperspective view of the section shown in Fig. 3, and the member in Fig. 4, asassembled withrthe member raised fromclosed position to expose the adjustment parts and the end of a braceletchain" connected therein.

in-order'to accomplish this resultdjhave;

provided fingers on the closure member,

One end link 15 of the bracelet chainissecured. to the end section 11" bymeans of a tongue l6rol'led about a"crossbarat the end ofthe linklfi, while the other end 17 l of the bracelet chain is adjustably connected tothe "opposite end section 10 -by engagement with any one of several different abutments to secureit in adjusted positions At the end of1section: 10 thereis folded iip a hook-'18:andialso, there is cut and raised a hook 19,from the stockof the bottqmj wall of this section, located inwardly from the end-hooklS andback of either offwh ich hooks the end-link- 17hnay-engage. I have i also provided a cover or. closure member 20 pivoted bymeans of trunnions 21 in theside walls 22 ofthe section'10, which member lies closely along the bottom wall ofthe body section '10 a short distance and is then ofiset as at 23 to extend up and over the hook 19 and thehook or curved tongue 18 and is provided with a hook or curved tongue 2d at its end to Spring outwardly over the hook I or curved tongue 18 and frictionally engage to apoint substantially in contact with-the therewith to maintain the;member in closed position. I have also provided on th s menu ber, fingers 25 on either side WlllCll extend bottom wall of themember when the member is in closed position, and these fingers are positioned intermediate of the two hooks 18 and 19 so that the end linkQi'? may engage back of these fingers and be this additional position of adjustmentwith relation'to the end section 10. r
Thusit will be seen that I may cause'the end crossbar 26 of the end link 17 to engage either the hooks'18 or 19 or back of the fin gers and beheld in any one of these three I adjusted positions when the member 20 is in closed 'position', and from this arrangement it will be seen that I mayveasily adjust the end link to any one of these positions to vary the encircling sizes ofthebracelet when in contracted position. i The side walls 220i are notched as at30 to receive the trunnions 14 of the intermediate section and permit the device to lie in closely housed position thatthei same maybe of a minimum thickness, which is desired in structures of this characteri The intermediate section 12 and cover section 11 when-in folded position overlie the (member 20 and by reason of the recesses, 27
and cooperating det'ents inthe cover member 11 these parts are held 'infolded position and positively'lo'ck and prevent the member '20 from being opened to permit release above indicated. The member and the section cooperating to confinethe bracelet in the adjusted and-desired position.
The foregoing description is directedsolely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to all the mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the terms of the appended claims.
