Description
NOV. 24, 1931. M, pou cK BELT Filed May 31, 1930 Patented Nov. 24, 1931 Y UNITED STATES Application filed May 31, 1930.:Seril N0. 458',25'7f My invention relates to a ]oeltand buokle therefor, and more particularly to a belt adapted to have diierent types of buckles secured thereto.
5 There are several types of buckles on the market which difi"erin the width of the portion by which they are secured to the belt.
' Heretofore it has been the practice to carry in stock several lines of belts which were similar in all respects except for the end which receives the buckle. I have therefore provided a belt which readily aocommodates or fits either type of buckle, thereby reducin;r the number of belts required in stock to maintain a complete line.
An object of the invention is to provide a new and improved belt., f r
A; further object is to provide a belt for receiving buckles' of difl'erent widths.
A further obiect is to provide a belt 0 neat and finished appearance when used with different types of buckles.
Other obieets and advantages will appear r as theydeeription proceeds.
Referring to the drawings:
Fig; 1 is a plan view of aportion of the belt showing one type of buckle secured th eto.
are preferahly parallel to the huokle end of the belt. An end nortion 7 is integral withthe body portion m the belt and is preterablv narrower than the -bod nortion. The end portion in rreases in width toward.the body portion and at its widest'part 8 is substantially the same width asthe body portion. Intermediate the body and end portions of the belt. is a nair'bf abrupt indentations 9,

, It is estomary to provide difierent types 'r ofbelt buckles to be seeured to-the belt at the place ofsalein ordertomeetthe tastes of dif' ferenteustomers.,i In Fig.:1 is shown a bucklev 18 of a type whichelamps the Opposite enol z of the belt to fr cti'onally: adjust the length of;

This, however; renders the belt obj eo,tionable cause a bckle of. this type willbefitoo loosefi 7 of being too large or wide for the belt.- I havealso found that it:adds greatly to the appearance of the belt to have the body off thebelt of the Same width all the wayto the g i buckle. By providing the belt between the bodyand end portiohs withindentationsor. v
cut-out portions 9 it will accommodate a buckle like 18 with a neat appearance andat the same time, it will tend to hold the butkle in the plane of the belt. The wide part 8- of the end prtion prevents the buckle 18 from sliding out of its place. It will be seen that this is a desirable feature inasmueh as a buckle of this type does not have aretaining pin 12 ofbuckle 1 3 to hold it in.

It will be noted that the longi- 7 tudihal slit 11 extending from the body por: y I
