his invention relates to improvements in containers for cosmetics and more particularly to holders for compacts, lipsticks, rouges, and similar articles.

A particular object of this invention is the provision of a hermetically sealed holder for toilet powder or rouges in compact form and holders for similar cosmetics, in which the exact shade of the cosmetic contained within the holder may be determined Without opening the article and exposing the compact to view.

Further objects of the invention will be apparent from the specification and drawing in which Fig. 1 is a perspective of a form of my improved holder for a rouge compact viewed from the bottom.

Fig. 2 is an elevational section.

Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the paper insert whose use will be hereinafter described.

1 is an insert covering the bottom of the holder preferably made of paper although it can also be made of metal foil or other material. The outer surface of the insert 1 1' is colored to correspond exactly with the shade of the rouge compact 12, and the upper surface of the insert 14 is securely glued to the bottom of the holder for the rouge compact. In view of the fact that the color of the bottom of the insert 14 exactly matches the color or the shade of the cosmetic contained in the holder, an observer or possible purchaser can readily tell the shade of the cosmetic without raising the cover 11 and. thus subjecting the cosmetic to air, dust, or other causes of possible deterioration. In placing the insert 14 in the bottom, care should be'taken so that same will fit the bottom tightly so as not to permit the entrance of any dust into the holder.
