This invention relates to devices for ruling, lines upon the sheets of notebooks, pads,

and tablets, and more particularly to devices of. this character which are incorporated with and form a part of such a book or tablet. The application is a continuation 1n part of my application N 0. 140,7 51, filed October 11, 1926, now matured into Patent No.

It is the'general purpose and object of the invention to provide, for notebooks, pads and tablets, a device which is capable of being combined or associated therewith, preferably as a cover member,and which device will enable lines to be ruled'rea-dily and conveniently upon the sheets therebeneath and at varying distances apart from the margins ofsuch leaves.

Further and more limited objects of the invention will appear hereinafter'and will be realized in and through the construction and'arrangement ofparts shown in the. drawing hereof, wherein Fig; 1 represents a per-' spective View ofa tablet having my invention incorporated therewith; Fig. 2 a View in. end elevation of a notebook of the looseleaf bindertype in which my invention is incorporated; and Fig- 3 a view, similar to Fig. 1, showing another form of notebook of the loose-leaf binder type in which my invention is incorporated;

Describing by reference characters the parts shown in the drawing, and first with particular reference to the form shown in Fig. 1, A represents a stack of superposed leaves, each'leaf having its sides and one end free and having its opposite end secured to corresponding ends of the other leaves in a manner usual in the construct-ion of tablets, as by means of an adhesive uniting such ends. Each leaf may, if desired, be provided with lines A extending longitudinally thereof and parallel with its sides. For

the purpose of ruling lines transversely of* the sheets of the pad or tablet, I have provided a transverse-line ruler, which is indicated generally at B and'which is shown as connected to the top of the tablet by a channel-shaped binder C, secured as by an adhesive to the end of the ruler, to the correwith a sponding end of the pad or tablet, and to the bottom ofthe lowermost sheet 'of the pad ortablet. In all of the forms of my invention, the line ruler is so, associated and connected with ,the stack of leaves therebeneath as to enable lines to be quickly and conveniently ruled 'upon successive leaves of such stack byfolding the rulerybackward upon itself in the manner indicated in Fig. 1.

Furthermore, while I prefer to combine theline ruler with a blotter and to form the .folding lines by cutting through or partly .through the blotter member, I do not limit myself to this manner of constructing the -lineruler, but only in accordance with the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
