1,9 reformed each time the tie is used.
Another important object of the invention is to provide a necktie structure wherein the front and tail pieces thereof are not disturbed in adjusting the tie for use.
Various other important objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent to the reader of the following specilication.
In the drawing:
Figure 1 represents a rear elevational view of the necktie with the tail Vmember spread open to disclose the free end of the neck en. clrcling band.
Figure 2 re resents a fragmentary rear elevational view of the tie with the parts intact.
Figure 3 represents a sectional view through the tail member of the tie.
Fi re 4 represents an enlarged fragmentary detailed sectional view taken substantially on line 4-4 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawing wherein like numerals designate like parts it can be seen that numeral 5 represents the face portion of the tie strip, the same being vprovlded 'with a portion from which the knot structure 6 is formed. Extending from this is the neck encircling band or strap 7 which forms a loop by having its free end portion trained through the knot 6 and longitudinally through the tail member 8,v which tail member is secured to the lower portion of the knot at the rear side of the face portion 5 of the tie.
By referring to Figure l, it can be seen that the tail member 8 is slitted longitudinally and the edge portions of the tail member at the edge ortions of the slit are provided with male and female fastening members 9-10 respectively which permit the tail member to be secured together at its 'edge portion as in the manner substantially shown in Figures 1 and 8.
The free end of the neck encircling strap 7 has a small stiifening, member-11 such as cardboard or the like laced thereinV so that the loo defined by the and can not be pulled apart y pulling this free end through the not. l
At this point, it will be observed that the face member 5 and the tail member 8 are fixed with respect to each other and with respect to the knot structure 6 and there is no longitudinal deviation between these two members when the tie is being adjusted to the neck of a wearer. v
In placing the necktie for use, the tail member 8 is opened up after the loop has been enlarged by pulling the free end toward the kn'ot structure 6 and after the loop has been placed over the head and around the collar, the stifened end of the loop, that is its free end, is ipped and pulled toward the free end of t e tail member 8 and when the proper tightness of the loop 4has been obtained, the fastening lelements 9-10-can be engaged by closing the tail member 8. Thus, the parts 5, 6 and 8 always remain intact and in themselves afford no means of discoloration thereof.
While the foregoing s ciication sets forth the invention in speci c terms, it is to be v understood that numerous changes` inthe shape, size and materials may be resorted to without departing from 4the spirit or scope of the invention as claimed hereinafter.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:
1. A made-up tie comprising a tie strip including avface and knot formed portion, said knot portion being provided with a neck encircling band portion having a free end, a tail member attached at one end to the knot, said band extending at its free end portion through the knot and longitudinally in the said tail member.
2. A made-up tie comprising a tie strip in'-v circling band portion having a free end, a
, tail member attached at one end to the knot,
saidjband extending at its free end portion through the knot and longitudinally in the said tail member, said tail member being slitL ted longitudinally to permit access to the i interior thereof.
3. A madeup tie comprising a tie strip including a face and knot formed portion, said knot portion being provided With a neck encircling band portion having a free'end, a tail member attached at one end to the knot,
said band extending at its free end portion through the" knot and longitudinally -in the said tail member, said tail member being slitted longitudinally to permit access to the interior thereof, means for detachably connecting the edge portions of the tail member together at the slit.
4.'In a necktie, a` knot structure, face and tail members lixed Withrespect to the knot structure and with respect to eachother, and a loop strip, one end of the loop strip being fixed with respect to the knot, the other end of the loop stri bein disposed through the knot and into t e sai tail member. In testimony whereof I aix my signature.
JAMES C. BARBETTI.
