JOSE M. ALMEDIA, OF ROCK SPRINGS, WYOMING.
nncxrrn.
Application filed May 14, 1921. Serial No. 469,463.
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that 1, Jose M. ALMEDIA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rock Springs, in the county of Sweetwater and State of Wyoming, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Necktie and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such, as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The object of. the invention is to provide a neck tie of the four in hand type and more particularly to rovide a clasp for constituting a form or the knot or loop of the tie and means in connection therewith for securing the free end of the neck band of the tie when properly adjusted; and with these objects in view the invention consists in a construction and combination of parts of whicha preferred embodiment is shown in the drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a general view of the tie.
Figure 2 is a rear view of the same.
Figure 3 is a transverse section on the plane indicated by the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure 4 is a detail view of the clasp with the fabric omitted.
The knot or how 10 from which depends the tie end 11 and into which-extends the end of the neck band 12 one end of which is free for adjustment to snugly embrace the collar of the wearer, consists of a form of sheet material such as metal, celluloid, hard rubber or any equivalent thereof comprising a shell 13 of transversel. arched form and a closure leaf 14: hinge at one edge to one edge of the shell-and adapted to serve as a means of clamping the free end of the neck band at the desired adjustment, the free edge of the closure leaf being provided with a latch 15 for engaging a catch 16 on the other edge of the shell to hold the closure wing in proper clamping position. Extending transversely of the shell 13 is an arched bar 13 serving as a brace to maintain the shell in its arched condition, and also serving to assist in maintaining the neck band 12 in adjusted position.- The shell and wing or leaf are provided with a covering 17 of the same' material as the tie or of any suitable or preferred material serving to match the material of the tie in producing a desirable and attractive article.
In order to remove the tie it is only. necessary to disengage the latch which is revolubly mounted upon the closure in order to disengage the loose end of the neck band which is then free to be displaced. In applying the tie likewise it is only necessary after extending the band around the neck or collar of the wearer to place the loose end will itself be securely clamped in place against the bar. Having thus described the invention, what I claim is 1. A neck tie form comprising a transversely curved shell, a leaf hinged to said shell atone side thereof, an arched brace bar extending between the side walls of said shell and serving, to brace the same, a latch formed on one of said members and a catch carried by the other of said members, said shell adapted to receive the ends of a tie and one of said ends adapted to be placed against said bar and held in place by said leafhwhen said latch is engaged by said catc 2. A neck tie form comprising a transversely curved shell, a leaf hinged to said shell at one side edge thereof, a brace bar extendin between the side walls of said shell, sai brace being arched in opposing relation to said shell, a catch carried by one edge of saidshell, a latch carried by the leaf and adapted to cooperate with said catch, and said bar adapted to cooperate with one end of a neck tie and with the leaf to cause an outward pressure to be exerted 'on the leaf to maintain the latch and catch in engagement and said bar and leaf adapted to clamp the end of the neck tie and maintain the same against displacement.
In'testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOSE M. ALMEDIA. Witnesses:
' Finn) W. JoHNson, GnAoE JOHNSTON.
