This invention relates to a bar which is mainly designed for removing floors of freight cars but which of course can be used for other purposes, the general object of the invention being to provide the bar with a hook shaped part which is so formed as to receive the parts of the flooring, so that by exerting pressure on the handle of the bar, the floor will be torn from its supports, thus reducing labor and time in dismantling a freight car. i p
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts,
to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure 1 is a view showing the device in use.
Figure 2 is an edge view of the lower part of the device.
In the drawing the numeral 1 indicates the handle part of the device which is formed with a thickened part 2 at its lower end. A horizontally arranged U -shaped part 3 has its upper limb connected to or formed with the lower end of the part 2 with the end of the lower limb beveled as at 4. Thus the U- shaped part forms a hook for fitting over a board such as a piece of flooring A so that exerting pressure on the handle, the board or flooring is torn from its support.
With this invention a freight car or the like can be easily and quickly dismantled with a saving of time and labor and while as before stated the device is mainly intended for dismantling freight cars it will of course be understood that it can be used for other purposes.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention what I claim as new is: I A wrecking bar of the class described comprising a single U-shaped member having a right angular extension extending outwardly from the extremity of one limb thereof and a handle connected with the extension forming a continuation thereof, the limbs of said U-shaped member being of substantially the same length.
