Practical embodiments of my invention are represented in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 represents in side elevation one form of my improved hair waving device in which the use of a mandrel for the wound tress is eliminated;
Fig. '2 represents a longitudinal central section through the same, the tubular capsule containing the liquid reagent being inserted between the capsule containing the exothermic material and the tress which-is wound upon the capsule containing the liquid reagent Fig. 3 represents a similar view in which i the pr lions of the two capsules are reversed,

The outer wrapper is denoted by 1, which wrapper may be made of any suitable nonabsorbent'material, such as parchment paper, foil, or'the like; The clamp is denoted by 2, which clamp may be of any well known or approved form. It is to be understood that any suitable protective pad, not" shown herein, may be inserted between the clamp 2 and the scalp of the person being treated.
The capsule 3 which contains the exothermic material 4, preferably in powdered form, is'either soluble or puncturable, as desired. .This capsule is preferably of tubular form. The capsule 5 which contains the liquid reagent 6 for the exothermic material 4 is preferably of tubular form and is made of readily puncturable material.
In Fig. 2, the hair tress 7 is shown as wound around the tubular capsule 5 which contains the liquid reagent and the tubular capsule 3 which contains the exothermic material is shown as inserted within the tubular capsule 5, while in Fig. 3 the hair tress 7 is shown as wound around the tubular capsule 3 which contains the exothermicmaterial and the tubular capsule 5 which contains the liquid reagent is shown as inserted within the capsule 3.
In Figs. 4, 5 and 6 the hair tress 7 is shown 7 as wound upon a mandrel8 of any well known or approved form. In Fig. 5 the capsule 3 containing the exothermic material is inserted between the wound tress and the capsule 5 containing the liquid reagent for the exothermic material. In Fig. 6 the capsule 5 containing the liquid reagent is inserted between the wound tress and-the capsule 3 containing the exothermic material.
In practice, after the tress has been wound around the tubular capsule '5 containing the liquid reagent as shown in Fig. 2, or around the capsule 3 containing the exothermic material as shown in Fig. 3, or around the mandrel' as shown in Figs. 5 and 6, the tubular capsule 5 may be punctured to release the liquid reagent and the capsule 3, in case it is of non-soluble material, is also punctured. The outer wrapper 1 may be wrapped around the wound tress after the capsules are in position and secured at the scalp end by the clamp 2, the outer end of the wrapper being twisted together to close the same after the puncturmg of the capsule or capsules. In case the tu alar capsule 3 is made of soluble material it will not have to be punctured.
The exothermic action starts at once, where the capsule containing the exothermic material ispunctured, because of the application of moisture to the exothermic material by the release of the liquid reagent in the punctured capsule 5. Where the capsule containing the exothermic material is soluble the liquid reagent first dissolves'the capsule sufficiently to gain access to theiexothermic material. 1
Heat is thus set up within the device sufficient to impart a so-called permanent wave to the preformed tress without requiring applicatioii of heat from an outside source.
It will be seen that the outside wrapper serves to confine the heat to a large extent within the device, the steam'generated by the reaction of the liquid reagent with the' exothermic material being permitted to escape through the crimped outer end of said wrapper It is evident that various changes may be resorted to in the construction, form and arrangement of the several parts without departing from the spirit and scope of my invention, and hence I do not intend to be limited to the particular embodiments herein shown and described, but Z i What I claim is:
1. A hair waving device comprising a soluble ca sule containing an exothermic material an a puncturable capsule containing.

3. A hair waving device comprising a soluble capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
4. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
5. A hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
6. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic materlal and a puncturable capsule containing a, liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
7. .A hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material. v
8. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material.
9. Ar hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing anexothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material. the exothermic material containing capsule being inserted into the liquid reagent containing capsule.
10. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, the exothermic material containing capsule being inserted into the liquid reagent containing capsule.
11. A hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, the liquid reagent containing capsule being inserted into the exothermic material containing capsule.
12. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, the liquid reagent containing capsule being inserted into the exothermlc material containing capsule.
13. A hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagentoi'or the exothermic material, the exothermic material containing capsule being inserted into the liquid reagent containing capsule, and a. mandrel on which the hair tress is to be wound, insertable into the exothermic material containing capsule.
14. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, the exothermic material containing capsule being inserted into the liquid reagent containing capsule, and a mandrel on which the hair tress is to be wound, insertable into the exothermic material containing capsule.

A hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, the liquid reagent contain ing capsule being insertable into the exothermic material containing capsule, and a mandrel on which the hair tress is to be wound, insertable into the liquid reagent containing capsule.

A hair Waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material, the liquid reagent containing capsule being insertable into the exo thermic material containing capsule, and a mandrel on which the hair tress is to be wound, insertable into the liquid reagent containing capsule.
17. A hair waving device comprising a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, on which capsule a hair tress is to be wound and a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for the exothermic material and insertable into the exothermic material containing capsule.
18. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material, on which capsule a hair tress is to be wound and a puncturable tubular capsule containing-a liquid reagent for the exothermic material and insertable into the exothermic material containing capsule.
19. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for an exothermic material, on which capsule the hair tress is to be wound and a soluble tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and being insertable into the liquid reagent containing capsule.
20. A hair waving device comprising a puncturable tubular capsule containing a liquid reagent for an exothermic material, on which capsule the hair tress is to be wound and a puncturable tubular capsule containing an exothermic material and being insertable into the liquid reagent containing capsule. v
