HEAT RETAINER FOR PERMANENT WAVING Filed Oct. 11, 1937 Inventor 7772mm: Moore A iiorneys Patented Dec. 6, 1938 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
This invention relates to a heat retainer for permanent waving of the human hair, the general object of the invention being to make the retainer of transparent and impervious material so that the operator can watch the hair while it is being heated and the device will retain the heat and moisture so that a shorter steaming time is required than when paper, flannel and similar materials are used.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and
in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the retainer.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 22 of Figure 1.
As shown in these views the retainer A is formed of a sheet I of impervious transparent material such as Cellophane, etc., and strips 3 are attached to the ends of the sheet, on one face thereof, by the staples 4, these strips being composed of absorbent paper or the like and act to keep the steam from escaping at the ends of the device.
As is well known a strand of hair is wound around a member and then this retainer is folded around the strand to form a tube which encloses the strand, the strips 3 forming the ends of the tube as the sheet is rolled beginning at one side edge.
It is thought from the foregoing description 10 that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided 15 that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having described the invention What is claimed as new is:-
A heat retainer for permanent hair waving 20 comprising a single imperforate sheet of Cellophane adapted to be Wound around a strand of hair wrapped on a member and strips of absorbent material connected to one face of the sheet at the ends thereof, said strips leaving the major portion of said face of the sheet exposed.
