An object of the invention is to provide a neat glove having unusually good structural features, which produces a snugly but easily fitting glove.
' Another object of the invention is to provide a glove made from a blank having a back portion and two palm portions which are secured together longitudinally of the glove and between the sides of the glove.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a glove having two palm portions which are secured together from a point between two fingers longitudinally of the glove in the direction of the wrist.
A further object of the invention is to provide one or both of the palm portions of the glove with flaps which are secured to the other palm portion respectively. a
The invention also comprehends a glove having the two palm portions secured together in a decorative manner.
Additional objects of the invention will appear in the following specification in which the preferred form of the invention is described.
In the drawing similar reference characters refer to similar parts in all the views, of which Figure 1 is a plan view of the palm of the glove which is the subject matter of this application Figure 2 is an enlarged sectional fragmentaII'y view on the line 2-2 of Figure 1,
igure 3 is an enlarged sectional fragmentar View on the line 33 of Figure 1,
I igure 4 is a plan view of the blank which is sewed together to form the glove illustrated in Figure 1, and
Figure 5 is a plan view illustrating a modified form of the invention.
By referring to the drawing, it will be seen that a blank 10 is provided, the blank 10 having a back 11 with finger parts 12, 13, 14 and 15, the blank having palm portions 16 and 17 which are integral with the back 11. the palm portion 17 having finger parts 18 and 19 and the palm portion 16 having fin' ger parts 20 and 21.
When the palm portions 16 and17 of the. V
blank 10 are disposed as shown in Figurel,
the edge 22 of the palm portion 17 is dis posed adjacent the edge 23 of the palm portion 16; The palm portion 17 has flaps 24 which are spaced apart and which extend from'its edge 22, and-the palm portion 16 has flaps 25 which are spaced. apart and' which extend from the edge 23 of the palm portion 16. -As will be seen by referring to Figure 4 of the drawing, the flaps 24 are staggered relatively to the flaps 25, so that, 60" when the palm portions are disposed approximately parallel with the back 11, the flaps 25 .may be disposed between the flaps 24 and the flaps 25 may be disposed against the outer side of the palmportion 1 7, and the 66 flaps 24 may bedisposed against the outer side yOClI the palm portion 16. The flaps 24 are then sewed to the palm portion 16 and the flaps 25 are sewed to the palm portion 17.
As will be Seen by referring fiQ g re 1 of 76 the drawing, a Ontinuous line of stitching 26 may be'used to sew the flaps 25 to the palm portion 17 and the flaps 24 to the palm portion 16. I 7 V V It will be seen that,.inasmuch as the finger part 19 has a side at the'edge 22 of the palm portion17 and, inasmuch as the finger part 21 has a side at the edge 23 of the palm portion -16, when the palm portions 17 and 16 are folded over the back 11 of the blank 80 10, the edges '22 and 23 will extend between a finger formed by the finger parts 14 and 19 and a finger formed-by the finger parts 21 and 13, as shown in Figurel. 7
It willalso be seen'thatthe edges 22 and 86 23 ofthepalm portions 17 and 16 will extend longitudinally of the blank 10 and of the glove formed from the said blank, and approximately at equal distances from the sides 27 and 28 of the finished glove.
In the modified form of the invention illustrated in Figure 5, the palm portion 16 has arcuate or curved flaps 25 and the palm portion 17 has arcuate or curved flaps 24*.
In otherrespects the construction illustrated in Figure 5 correspondswith the construction illustrated in the other figures.
It will be seen'thatthe body'of the glove, including the back 11,:thepalm'portions 16 and 17' and the finger parts may be cut from an integral blank and that the glove will, therefore, be without seams at its sides 27 and 28 and that the only seam at the body of the glove will be at the edges 22 and 23 of the palm portions 16 and 17.
The thumb 29 may be secured to the palm portion 16 at an opening 30 therein in any desired manner and, if desired, a fourchette 31 may be used to connect the finger parts.
WVith the glove blank having its sidessecured at the palm of the glove and longitudinally of the glove and between the sides of the glove, it is possible to produce a glove and easily and that, therefore, the glove,
which is the subject matter of thisa-pplication, hasunusual qualities, not only with reference to its appearance. but also because it 2 fits in a desirable way, while still'perrnitting the fingers and other parts of the hand to have freedom of movement.
What is claimed is:
1. A glove having a back and two palm i portions, each of the palm portions having flaps spaced apart, the flaps on oneof the palm portions beingstaggered relatively to the flaps on'the other palm portion, andthe flaps on each palm portion being ses cured to the outer side of the other palm "portion respectively; f p i 2. A glove having a back and two palm portions which have approximately straight edges disposedadjacent each other between 3 5 ,the sides of the glove, and flaps extending from the said edge or edges on' the palm portion or portions which are secured against a face of the other palm portion or portions respectively. 40. p
portions with edges disposed adjacent each other, and flaps extending from the said edges of the palm portion, the flaps on each portion being disposed against the outer .side of the other palm portion and being other side of the blank between the sides of the glove. V
5. A glove having an integral blank with finger parts at one end between sides of the v blank and flaps spaced apart and extending from one of the said sides between approxi-' mately stra ght edges which are approximately in alignment with the said sides at t5 .an outer side of the finger parts, the said inexpensively which will fitthehand snugly 3. A glove having a back and two palm ing the-said-flaps to the said other side of the blank.
