Description

Feb. 9, 1932. r H, M. BICHELANI 1,844,881
GLOVE Filed April 17 1929 a YE :1;- ll}.
ATTORNEY Patented Feb. 9, 1932 PATENT. oFFIc HABIB M. B'ICHELANI, or BAYONNE, NEW; JERSEY GLOVE Application filed April 17,
This invention relates tonew and useful improvements in gloves. i
The invention has for an object the provision of a glove of fleece linedor'other material and having a fiat outside member formed with a thumb, a' palm back and finger portions, and an inside member stitched to the outside member and having a palm, thumb, index and small finger portions, these latter parts being larger than the corresponding parts of the outside member so as to produce a baggy glove, the fingers between the index and small fingers on the outside member being completed by independent finger members secured upon these finger portions.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and t the appended claim in which thevarious novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawings forminga material part of this disclosure Fig. 1 is an elevational view of a glove constructed according to this invention with the inner side turned towards the front.
Fig.2 is a similar view of a modified form of glove constructed according to the same invention.
Fig. 3 is a front elevational view of a mitten.
Fig. 4 is an elevational view of the outer member, per se.
F ig. 5 is an elevational view of the inner member, per se.
. Figs. 6 and 7 are elevational views of the independent finger members.
Fig. 8 is a perspective view of the finger members shown in Figs. 6 and 7.
Fig. 9 is a horizontal sectional view as though taken on the line 9-9 of Fig. 4, but showing the finger sections in Fig. 8 disposed upon the finger portions of Fig. 4.
The reference numeral 10 indicates 'ener ally a flat outside member having a thumb portion 11, a palm back portion 12 and finger portions 13 consistin of an index fin er a l. b C3 7 small finger and two central finger portions, all of a size equal substantially to the pro- 1929. Serial N0. 355,680.
jected size of a specific persons hand. An inside member let for engagement upon the outside member consists ofa palm portion 12, a. thumb portion 11, an index; finger portion 13 and a small finger portion 13 all of a size substantiallylarger than the projected size of the same persons hand; As stated the index .and small finger portions 13 and 13 are of materially larger width than the finger portions upon which they engage on the outside member and this extra width is gained by forming the finger'portions 13 and .13" from a point 15 substantially at the junction of the central two fingers of the persons hand. The inside member is formed with lateral cuts 15 reducing the width of the index and the thumb portions so that parts of these portions may be bent outwards to produce baggy fingerv portions, that is, .hollow fingers so that ones fingers may be inserted therein. Dot and dash lines 16 in Fig. 5 indicate the bending lines of the finger Portions 1.3 and 13 f '27" The cut 15 in the portion 13 is substantially horizontal since the junction-of the index fingerwith the adjacent finger, said junction indicated in Fig. iby. numeral 13', and the junction 13 of the central fingers are substantially in the same horizontal plane. The cut 15 in the small finger portion 13 slopesdownwards from the point 15 which corresponds with junction. 13 to point 15 which corresponds with the junctiony13' between the small and adjacent fingers. I When the inside member is placed upon the outer member and secured thereto the two fingers between the index finger and the small finger need inside finger sections to complete them. In Figs. 6 and 7 such finger sections have been shown namely finger section 17 for engagementupon the finger adjacentthe index finger in Fig. 4, and section 18 for engagement upon the finger adjacent the small finger. It should be noticed that these finger sections are of greater widththan the finger portions in Fig. 4 so that when they are sewed upon these sections they producea hollow into which ones fingers may be inserted.
. The finger sections 17 and 18 are first sewed together along their bottom edges for about one third of the lengths of these edges, the line of proposed sewing being indicated by numerals 17 and 18 in Figs. 6 and 7, respectively. Fig. 8 shows these parts in connected condition and numeral 23 indicates the stitches along the lines 17 and 18. The joined parts 17 and 18 are next placed with the stitches 23 at right angles to the junction 13", and then part 17 turned to the left and sewn upon the left of the central finger portions 13 and part 18 turned to the right and sewn upon the right of central finger portions 13. The finger portion 18 is formed with a bottom extension 18 so as to extend the full length of the right finger of the two central finger portions to the junction 13'.
In Fig. 1, a glove has been shown made from the parts illustrated in Figs. 4 to 7 in elusive and in which a wrist band 19 has been added. A portion of this figure has been shown broken away to illustrate that the outer member has integral finger port-ions while the inner member has the independent sections 17 and 18 sewed thereon as just described. In Fig. 2 a modified form of glove has been shown in which the wrist band 19 is of quite large size and reinforced by a stiff leather piece 20. This figure also clearly shows the finger sections 17 and 18 stitched as at 21 to the inside member 14.
In Fig. 3 a modified form of glove has been illustrated which consists of a palm portion 12, a wrist portion 19, a thumb portion 11, an index finger portion 13 and a portion 22 for covering all of the other fingers except the index and thumb.
While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
A method for manufacturing a glove which consists in securing an inner glove member having a palm, thumb, index and small finger portions upon an outer glove member having a palm back, thumb, and four finger portions, and thereafter securing 111-- dlependent inner second and third finger sections comprising two pieces, one of which has a downwardly extending portion, onto the inner glove member and onto the finger portions of the outer glove section between the index and small finger portions, by first sewing said independent finger sections together along their bottom edges for about one-third of the lengths of those edges, and placing these joined parts with the stitches at right angles to the junction at the base of the second and third fingers of the outer glove member, and thereafter turning the independent finger section having no downwardly extending portion towards the index finger and stitching it upon the edge of the central finger portions of the outer member which is nearest the index finger, and turning the independent finger portion having a downwardly extending portion towards the small finger and stitching it upon the edge of the central finger portions of the said outer member which is nearest the small finger, the finger portions of the inner glove member and the independent finger sections being of greater widths than the corresponding parts of the outer glove member, and the finger portions of the inner member having lateral nger side portions bendable to produce a baggy structure, the parts being secured together to present a baggy structure.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
