IMPROVEMENT IN CORSETS.

Specification forming part Of Letters Patent N o. 187,657, dated February 20, 1877; application tiled October 31, 1876.

To all whom it mor/ y concern Be it known that I, CHARLOTTE A. MOGEE, of Jackson, in the county of Jackson and State of Michigan, have invented a new'and useful Improvementin Corsets; and I do declare that the following is a true and accurate description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, and being a part of this specification, in Which- Figure 1 is a perspective view, from the front. Fig. 2 is a perspective of the back; and Fig. 3 is a perspective of Onc half Of the Corset, from the inside.

The nature of my invention relates to an improvement in ladies7 underwear; and' it consists in the combining in One garment a corset, bust, under-waist, and skirt-supporter, as more fullyhereinafter set forth.

In the drawing, A represents the corset, provided with the usual bones and steels. The

upper part of the corset is prolonged, so as to form the upper part of an under-waist, B, which latter is provided with lapels B', which fall over the busts. At each side of the steels, in the front of the corset, slits C are made, the sides of which are eyeleted tO receive the lacing-cords c, by means of which the corset may be adjusted to fit the form of the wearer without compressing the busts.

D are sockets secured tO the corsets at the sides of the busts, which receive the ends of the breast-spring E, which projects outwardly and supports the springs K in front of the breast. YAt various points around the waist of the corset are `secured the hooks F and rings G, to which skirts may be attached, Or

proper cords passed through the rings, by'

means of which a dress-skirt may be supported. The bones and steels can all be readily removed through the slashes c, so that the garment can be Washed when `it has become soiled.

What I claim as my invention is Y -l. The corset A, extended at the top to form the under-waist B, andA having the lapels B,'substantially as described and shown.

2. The garment described,consistinglof the corset A, having the laced slits C each side of the steels, and the skirt-supporting device F G and the extended part B, Yforming an under waist, the lapels B', and the breastsprings E, all constructed and arranged substantially as described and shown.
