' This invention relates to an improved form of clip adapted for use in closing the ends of compound pads, sachets, or tubes of the type j employed in connectionwith thepermanent j waving of the hair. Y f Y ,In processes now commonly employed `for the production ,of a permanent wave in human hair it is customary to enclose a lock of the hair, after appropriately twisting 1t 10 about a bobbin, in a tubewhichf is extended to a point yadj acent thescalp. Heat is' applied and steam is developed within lthe tube. To prevent the escape of the steam atthe end of the tube adjacent the scalp a clip is employed '15 at this end to tightly clamp the tube around the hair. i i It has been a primary object of the present invention tov provide a simple but elective clip which may be suitably employed for this purpose and one whichis reliable in its action and yet easy toV remove when the heat treatment iseompleted. Devices-which have been employed heretofore have usually been either difiicult to apply vor remove from the end of the tubeor have been unreliableV in their operation so that there hasfbeen danger of their becomingreleased prematurely and-permitting theescapefof steam lagainst the scalp.

The improved clip contemplated bythe present invention is formed of few parts readily produced and put together, is `positively held in `its clamping condition and may be readily released by a slight pressure against apair of finger pieces. The newclip is made light in construction and yet, due to an improved leverage action provided by the ormand arrangement of the parts, it may be clamped about the end oir'- a'tube or pad with greater facility than prior devices of this general character. "On account of the stiifening effect of the washer 18 the'movement of the finger pieces vtoward each other will cause a bend-l ing of the plate 15 outwardly to an extent sufficient to disengage lthe shoulder 25 from the tab 27. When the trigger is thusy released the clip may be readily opened up and removed rfrom the tube. Y
