IMISROVENIENT IN TEST-GASES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 186,770, dated January 30,1877 application ijled November 8, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORL-Anno D. THAYER, of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improved Test-Gage; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which Will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertaius to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
My invention relates to an improved gage for recording the pull or pressure, in pounds, of the strength of the person operating the same; and it consists in the construction and arrangement of the several parts, all as will be hereinafter more fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawing hereto annexed the figure represents a front view ot' my invention, in which the letter A is a circular case, provided with an index-plate, B, having` a glass front and a rim, b, for attaching the case to a Wall or other suitable place.
In the center of the case is situated a shaft passing through an opening in the index-plate and provided with a pinion,p, engaging with a segmental lever, L, both being hung in a handles for pulling. I usually fasten my improved gage to the'side of a room, and When so hung, and it is desired to pull in a lateral direction, the rods are provided with sections of chain which pass over pulleys.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent,is-
The rods D D, plate S, springs C (l, segmental lever L, pinion la, in combination with the case A, as herein described, and set forth.
