Description

(No Model.)
G. W. DECKER. Horse Collar Fastening.
No, 233,402. Patented Oct. 19,1880.
Tum" Wm, f. Z 7 w n UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE W. DECKER, OF GANANDAIGUA, NEW YORK.
HORSE-COLLAR FASTENING.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 233,402, dated October 19, 1880.
Application filed July 29, 1880.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE W. DECKER, of Oanandaigua, in the county of Ontario and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Horse Collar Fastenings; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make anduse the same, reference being had to the accompanyingdrawings, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 is a perspective view. Fig. Zis a detail view, in perspective, of the sockets separated from each other, and Fig. 3 is a detail view of the dovetailed slide.
Corresponding parts in the several figures are denoted by like letters of reference.
This invention relates to horse-collar fastenings; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction of the same, which will be hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
In the drawings, the letters A A represent the two sides of a horse-collar, connection between the upper ends of which is formed by a strap and buckle in the usual manner. The
collar is formed of two separate sides, and the lower ends of said sides are connected by two sockets,B B',i11 which the ends of the collar are secured by means of rivets 0 C. One of the ends, B, is provided upon its face with a dovetailed groove, D, in which is fitted a slide, E, provided with a spring-latcl1,F, by
(No model.)
which it may be connected to the said side B, and having upon its face one or more studs, G, by which it maybe connected to the adjoining socket B, the face of which is provided with recesses or openings H for the reception of the said studs.
My invention consists in providing the sockets B B upon their lower faces with flanges I 1, between which the connecting-strap of the collar is adjusted. By means of these flanges, in conjunction with the strap, any lateral or side movement of the sockets is prevented, thus retaining the device firmly and permanently when placed in position.
This invention is extremely simple, durable, and useful, and permits the easy and convenient adjustment or detachment of the collar without injury to the same.
Having thus described my invention, I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States- A horse-collar fastening consisting of the sockes B B, provided with flanges I I, and adapted to be secured together by a' suitable fastening, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
GEORGE W. DECKER.
