This invention relates to a display card. The object of the invention is to provide a simple, eicient card which can preferably be formed out of a single blank of material and which can be cutpand folded to form an upright stand and to display a facsimile of the article being displayed.

Further and more specic objects, features and advantages will more clearly appear L from a consideration of the specification hereinafter taken in connection with the accompanying drawing which forms part of the specification and which illustrates a present preferred form of the invention. 5 The invention is illustrated in the drawing, of which:

Fig. l is a front elevation of the card in its assembled position;

Fig. 2 is a side elevation thereof; Fig. 3 is a horizontal cross section taken on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2; and

Fig. 4 is an elevation of the dat blank from which the device is made showing the manner in which the facsimile of the article to be displayed is cut out of the blank.

Briefly considered the invention comprises a blank of material, preferably, heavy paper, board or cardboard having end portions 10 and 11 connected by intermediate central portions 12 and 13. These intermediate portions are adapted to be folded with respect to each other and with respect to the end portions 10 and 11 along the vertical dotted lines shown in Fig. 4. `W hen folded these intermediate portions 12 and 13 lie flat against each other, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3 and are-held together by suitable fastening means such as staples 18 to form a rearwardly extending wall or leg disposed substantially at right angles to the front wall which is formed by drawing together the end portions 10 and 11 as the intermediate or central portions are thus folded.

r:Che object of forming this front wall with the rearwardly extending wall or leg is to provide a display card which can be placed in a self-supporting manner on a counter, or in any suitable location to display or advertise various articles. Assuming that the article to be displayed or advertised by use of this card is bottle goods such as ginger ale, it is within'the scope of this invention to form or cut a facsimile of the article, in outline, from the surface of the central or intermediate portions 12 and 13. F or this purpose F ig. 4: shows how an outline 14 of a bottle of ginger ale is cut from this central portion having on one side thereof a connecting strip 15 integrally connecting it with the body of the card and the other sido with a strip 16 and an extending latching tab 17. lf this outline is cut substantially entirely from the central portions 12 and 13 the strips 15 and 16 are bent at right angles to the plane of the facsimile 14, thus disposing this flat facsimile in a plane parallel to and in front of the main body or wall of the card which is formed by the folding operation above mentioned. The extending or latching strip 17 is then passed through a slit 18a formed in one of the front walls such as 11, this holds the facsimile in position and enables it to stand out in front of the card somewhat in relief. This facsimile outline is preferably colored, or painted, or otherwise treated to simulate as exactly as possible the nature of the article to be displayed. In the same manner the facsimile outline of any article can be thus cut out of a blank and be made to stand out from the supporting card in quasi-relief. it is apparent that not all of the outline of the article being displayed need be cut from the central portions since it may be possible to cut part of the outline from the front walls, if desired, but in any case the outline is connected to one of the front walls by means of an integral connecting strip. It is also possible to make this device of two strips stapled together inside, as long as in either case the `strips are joined together to form a rearwardly extending supporting leg or wall and the blanks are aligned to form a front wall from which the displayed article or facsimile is set out or separated in the manner above indicated.

In order to make the device more steady on the supporting counter and the like, I provide an auxiliary strip 19 which may be disposed in the process of assembly, between the lower portions of the intermediate sections 1Q and 13 and extending forwardly as shown in Figs. 1, 2l and 3 to act as a front support ing leg at the bottom of the device to keep it from falling forward. The strip 19 can be held by suitable fastening means such as staples 20.

While the inventlon has been described in detail and with respect to a present preferred form thereof it is not to be limited to such details and forms since many changes and modifications may be made in the invention without departing from the spirit and scope' of the invention in its broadest aspects..

Hence it is desired to cover any and all forms and modiiications of the invention which may come within the language or scope of any one or more of the appended claims.

That fs claimed, is:

1. A display card which comprises a blank having end portions and intermediate foldable portions, the end portions adapted to be aligned to form a front wall with their adjacent edges abutting each other to make the front wall a continuous one and the foldable portions adapted to be laid abutting each other to form a rear supporting wall, and a front supporting leg extendingy forwardly from the lower edge of the front wall.

2. A display card which comprises a blank having end portions and intermediate foldable portions, the end portions adapted to be aligned to form a front wall with their adiacent edges abutting each other to make the front wall a continuous one and the foldablc portions adapted to be laid abutting each other to forni a rear supporting wall, a faesimile outline of an article, said outline cut substantially from the intermediate portions, and means for supporting said facsimile outline in spaced relation on and in front of said front wall when the device is assembled.

3. A display card which comprises a blank having two end portions and intermediate foldable portions` a facsimile outline of an article to be displayed. said outline cut substantially from the intermediate foldable portions. and means connecting said outline to the blank and adapted to be supported in front of and parallel to the end portions when said end portions are drawn together to form a continuous front wall.

4. A display card which comprises a blank having two end portions and intermediate foldable portions` said intermediate portions adapted to be folded together to. form a rear supporting wall and draw the end portions together to form a continuous front wall, a facsimile outline of an article to be displayed cut substantially from the` intermediate portions, a tab connecting one portion of said outline to the blank and adapted to be folded to dispose said outline in front of and paral'lel to the front supporting wall.

5. A display card which comprises a blank having two end portions and intermediate foldable portions, said intermediate foldable portions adapted to be folded together to form a rear supporting wall and draw the end portions together to form acontinuous front wall, a facsimile outline of an article to be displayed cut substantially from the intermediate portions, aV tab connecting one portion of said outline to the blank and adapted to be folded to dispose said outline in front of and parallel tothe front supporting wall, and means along another portion of said outline to connect it with the blank to holdit in this projected position.

6. A display card which comprises a blank having two end portions and twointermediate foldable portions, the end portions adapted to be aligned to form a front wall with their adjacent edges abutting each other to makethe front wall a continuous one and the foldable portions adapted to be laid abutting each other to form a rear supporting wall, a facsimile outline of an article to bey displayed cut substantially from the intermediate portions, an integral tab connecting one portion` of'said outline with the blank on one side thereof, another tab formed on the opposite side of said outline, said tabs adapted. to be folded to liold said outline in position in front of andparallcl to the front wall and an auxiliary tab connected to the second mentionedA fol'dable tab, the blank having a slit to receive said auxiliary tab and latchy the outline inv position.
