Y., A COPARTNERSHIP COMPOSED OF HERBERT ROBINSON AND OTTO A. GOLLUBER COMBINED GIFT HOLDER AND GREETING CARD Application filed November 4, 1931.
This invention relates to the'class of stationery, and comprehends a combined greeting card and gift holder which, while'not necessarily restricted to such use, is especially designed for a holiday greeting, to provide a combined novel greeting card and gift holder which may be mailed or otherwise delivered to the recipient.
One of the principal objects in view is to provide an article of the indicated character which serves as a medium to simultaneously convey both a greeting and a gift in a unique, attractive and efiective manner so as todistinguish from the commonplace or usual.
The invention further resides in the conception of a combined greeting card and gift holder which is comparatively simple in construction and inexpensive to produce, in that it embodies but few and simple elements capable of economical production and assemblage and which is highly efficient for the purpose intended.
With the above recited and other objects in view, reference is had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which there is exhibited one example or embodiment of the invention, while the claim defines the actual scope of the same;
In the drawings:
Figure l is a front view of a folder constituting a greeting card and gift holder, and illustrating a gift associated therewith.
Figure :2 is a horizontal sectional View therethrough taken approximately on the line indicated at 2-2 in Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a face view of the folder in opened condition.
Figure 4 is an enlarged fragmentary sectional view taken approximately on the line indicated at 4. -4 in Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings by characters of "reference, the practical embodiment of the invention which is employed by way of illustration includes a body designated generally by the reference character .A, which Serial No; 572,991.
is composed of two plies of material 5 and 6 which are creased along coinciding fold lines 7 and 8 intermediate their width to provide foldable portions a and b of the body A. The two plies of material 5 and 6 of the leaf portion a of the body which lie at one side of the fold lines 7 and 8 are joined at their free marginal edges by an adhesive 9 or other equivalent securing means so as to form between said marginally joined ply portions, a pocket 10. The remaining unjoined man ginal sides adjacent the line of fold are held together by a flexible tie 11, which may be in the form of a ribbon extending through spaced apertures 12 and formed into a bow 13 which is displayed on the outer face of the body leaf a. One of the plies of the leaf portion a, in the present instance the ply 5, is formed with a'slit 14;, which may follow, as illustrated, the outline of a suitable illustration 15, printed, engraved or otherwise inscribed on the outer surface of said leaf portion. The slit 14 establishes communication through said leaf portion ply to the pocket 10 formed between said plies and is designed to receive therethrough a gift, such as the folded handkerchief B, portions of which are respectively disposed between and within the confines of the body plies of the leaf portion a and disposed exteriorly of said body leaf a, as clearly illustrated in the drawings. The outer surfaces of the plies of the body member bear suitable greeting matter 16. It is obvious within the scope of the invention that the plies of the leaf portion 12 may be either joined or left unconnected as shown, and, furthermore, that that portion of the inner ply on the leaf 6 maybe dispensed with if desired.
While there has been illustrated and described a single and preferred embodiment of the invention, it is to be understood that no restriction is intended by the precise structural details exhibited, but that variations and modifications which properly fall within the scope of the claim may be resorted to if desired.
What is claimed is:
In a device of the indicated character, a folder including two plies folded to form two approximately equal sections, the plies of one section being joined atthe free marginal edges and secured together near the fold line to define a pocket therebetween, the outer 1y of said pocket having a slit to receive therethrough a gift, a portion of which may be disposed within said pocket.
