The device forming the subject matter of this application is intended for the purpose of keeping the members of pairs of hose, or the like, connected together, especially during the time of their laundrying, both for the purpose of identification, and for the further purpose of keeping the members of the pairs coupled according to color and shade.

Another object of the invention is to provide a device of the class described which can be operated easily, it being a simple matter to connect the pieces of hosiery with the part that holds them together, and that part being so constructed that, although having a firm hold on the hosiery, the hosiery will not be damaged.

It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains.

With the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description procecds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed, may be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention,

The connector forming the subject matter of this application is adapted to be employed for holding hosiery and similar articles together and paired, during such operations as washing. It is made from a flat plate of uniform" thickness, and? of" approximately metal, orany other suitablematerial which willnot deteriorate when wet,-or when subjected" to the action of soap, cleaning fluid, or other substances used in washing.

In the outer edges of the plate there are oppositel disposed notches 1, and these notches f hrm laterally projecting heads 2, and a reduced body 3 connecting the heads. The sides 1 of the notches 1 converge outwardly, to form points 5 at the ends of the heads 2. Because the heads 2 are pointed, as aforesaid, they will have a good hold on the hosiery. As shown in Fig. 1, the points 5 are rounded or blunted somewhat, and this prevents the points from penetrating the hosiery, without impairing the utility of the points appreciable, as a means for holding the pieces of hosiery in place. In the body 3 there is a hole 6, preferably in the form of an elongated slot, the sides 7 of the hole being straight, and parallel to the straight bases 8 of the notches 1. The hole 6 extends a little way into the heads 2. The ends of the hole 6 are outwardly c011- vexed, as shown at 9, and are parallel to the curved outer edges 10 of the heads 2.

The numeral 11 marks a piece of hosiery, and the upper end or hem of the piece of hosiery is designated by the numeral 12. A portion 22 of the upper end of the hose is inserted through the hole 6. The part 22 of the hose then is folded as at 14:, over one of the heads 2, and about the outer edge 10 of the head, the part 22 extending into the oppositely disposed notches 1. The piece of hosiery 11 is drawn upon, from below the connector, to render the folded portion 14 reasonably taut, as shown at 15, the folded part of the hosiery generally creasing, as shown at 16, during the operation specified. The piece of hosiery will thus be securely but releasably joined to the connector, the function of the blunted points 5 being clearly evi dent from Fig. 4, taken in connection with Fig. 5.

A second piece of hosiery may be assembled with the connector in the way specified,

and it will be obvious that the members of the pairs of hosiery will be held together during Washing and similar operations, the hold of the pieces of hosiery on the connector being greatly enhanced, as soon as the hosiery is Wet.

What is claimed is y A device for holding hosiery and similar articles together and paired, during such operations as Washing, the same comprising a plate of approximately oval outline, With oppositely disposed notches in its edges, the notches forming laterally projecting heads and a reduced body connecting the heads, the sides of the notches converging outwardly, to give the heads points at their ends, and there being a hole in the body.
