Description

J. A. MARINER.
COLLAR AND TIE HOLDER.
APPLICATION FILED MAR. 18, 1920.
1 ,35 3 ,969. I Patented Sept. 28, 1920,
HNVENTOR J. A. MARINER j v ATTORNEY residing Y UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH A. MARI1 TIE'CI.'\,, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
I COLLAR AND TIE HOLDER.
-T0 all whom itmay concern Be it known that I JOSEPH A. MARINER, a cltizen of the United States of America, at the city of Chicago, county of Cook, tate of Illinois, United States of America, have invented a certain new and useful Collar and Tie Holder, of which the following is such a full, clear, and exact description as will enable any one skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to theaccompanying drawings, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a collar and tie holder and particularly I to such holder formed of a single piece of metal.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate one form of holder made in accordance with my invention, Figure 1 is a plan view of the blank from which the holder is formed, Fig. 2 a bottom plan of th finished holder, Fig. 3 is a front elevation, Fig. 4L is an end View, and Fig. 5 is an end view on a reduced scale, the tie and collar being shown in dotted lines.
My holder is formed from a single sheet in the form shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings. 10 indicates a main bar terminating in a pair of clamping arms 11 between which and connected auxiliary clamping bars 12 the flags of the collar are adapted to be held. he inner ends of the arms 12 terminate in spring loops 13 formed integral with the bar and joining the same at points inter mediate of its length. Projecting from one edge of the bar 10 are a pair of pointed members adapted to be bent into hooks 15 to engage with the tie as shown in Fig. 5. Between the hooks 15 is a member 16 provided with openings 17 by means of which it may be 'stitched to the tie. This member 16 is bent-at the opposite side of the bar 10 from hooks 15 as best shown in Fig. 4:. 18 are spring arms projecting from the bar 10 and terminating in a pair of .curved members 20 which together form a clip for engaging with the collar button as shown in- The arms 11 and 12 are slightly inclined Specification of Letters Patent. from each other from their outer ends toward the loop 18 so that when the flap of the collar is inserted between the arms the ohter ends of the arms will be slightly spread thus bringing the opposite faces parallel so as to clamp the flap of the collar effectively throughout the length of the bar 12. While this inclination of the opposite faces of the bars is very slight, it is important in, securing proper contact of the clamp bars with the collar throughout the length of the clamping members.
In using my holder the hooks 15 are first inserted in the rear face of the tie, the member 16 is then stitched to the rear face of the tie so as to effectively secure the device in position. The clip 20 is Slipped over the collar button as shown in Fig. 5 and the flaps of the collar are inserted between the clamping bars 11 and 12 thus not only holding the tie in position but at the same time clamping the flaps of the collar around the tie.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim-as-new and desire to secure by Let- 2, 'A collar and tie holder comprising a i bar forming a pair of integral main clamping arms and a pair of auxiliary clamping arms, a tie engaging hook formed integral with said bar and bent to one side thereof,
', and a member adapted to be stitched to the tie and also formed integral with said bar and bent to the opposite side thereof from said hook.
3. A collar and tie holder comprising a bar forming a pair of integral main clamping arms and a pair of auxili'ary'clamping arms, a tie engaging hook formed integral with said bar and bent to one side thereof, a
member adapted to be stitched to the tie and also formed integral with the bar and bent to the opposite side thereof from said hook, and a clip for engaging with a collar button.
a. A. collar and tie holder comprising a bar forming a pan of mtegral main clamp- 'ing arms and a pair of auxiliary clamping arms, a tie engaging hook formed integral with said bar and bent to one side thereof, 5 a member adapted to be stitched to the tie and also formed integral with the bar and bent to the opposite side thereof from said hook, and a clip for engaging with acollar button, said cli being also formed integral with said bar and bent to one side thereof.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and aflixed my seal.
