THE GRAPHIC CDNY UNITED STATES PATENT ()FFIGE.
JOHN T. WESTON, OF ORESTON, IOWA.
IMPROVEMENT IN BOOK-CLIPS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 185,606, dated December 19, 1876; application filed May 9, 1876.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN T. WEsToN, of Oreston, Union county, Iowa, have invented a new and Improved Book-Clip, of which the following is a specification:
The figure is a perspective view of my improved device, shown as applied to a musicbook.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved device for holding music-books open upon organs and other musical instruments, which shall be simple in construction, neat in appearance, and convenient in use.
The invention consists in an improved music-book holder formed of wire, having its middle part bent into U form, having coils formed upon the middle part of its arms, and having the outer parts of its arms bent over parallel with their inner parts, as-hereinafter fully described.
The holder A is formed of wire, the middle part a of which is bent twice at right angles, or is curved to give it a U form. The arms of the U have coils a. formed in them to give them a suitable elasticity, and their outer parts a are bent over parallel with their inner parts, as shown in the figure.
In using the device, the bend a is placed at the back of the book, when opened at the required place, and the arms a are placed upon the pages of the book, as shown in the drawing.
The coils (1 enable the device to be placed upon books of various thickness.
The ends of the arms a are bent to form eyes to prevent said ends from catching upon and tearing the paper.
Having thus described myinvention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A music-book clip, consisting of the wire A having middle bends a coils a and arms a constructed and arranged substantially as and for the purpose specified.
