The object of this invention is to provide a collapsible fireplace which can be setup against a fiat wallor in the corner'of a room to simulate a real fireplace and the parts of which can be placed together so that they will,
occupy but-little space when not in use.
This invention also consists incertain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts,
to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure 1 is a view showing the fireplace.
set up. u
Figure 2 is a view showing some of the parts arranged in another part so that the parts will occupy but'little space when not in use.
Figure 3 is a view of the blank from which the body of the device is formed.
Figure 4 is a View of the blank from which the shelf is formed; V
Figure 5 is a viewof the blank from which the chimney is formed.
Figure 6 is a section on line 66 of Figure 1.
Figure 7 is a view showing the device set up in the corner of a room,
Figure 8 is a view similar to Figure 7,1but,
showing-a slightly difierent arrangement of the chimney forming part. 7 Figure 9 isla perspective view of the shelf 7 when used, as shown inFigures -7 and 8.
Figure 10 is a rear perspective view of the body when used with the shelf'arranged as shown in Figure 9.
t Figure 11 is a rear perspective view of the chimney forming part as used'in the first form of the inventio 7 Figure 12 is a vertical sectional view,
through the upper part of the body and show- 1 1 ing the shelf thereon.
The body 1 is formed of a sheet or blank A' which is foldedon the lines a so as to form the front 5, the back Gandthe two sides 7'. The

blank is also folded on thehorizontal linesa to form the flaps 8,9, 15 and 16, these flaps beinglcut, as at 10, the cuts being "inalignment with the fold lines betweenthe sides and the front and back parts. The fiaps8 and 9, at the front, are folded so that the flap 8 is folded outwardly and the flap 9 inwardly, so that they will extend at right-v angles to the front. Flaps 15 and 16, at the back, are folded inwardly and then the parts ll'between the cuts 10 are folded upon the flaps 9,15 and l6,as shown in Figure 6. Thus when the blank is folded as described, a rectangular body will be'formed, fas shown in Figure 1. The front is cut onthe lines Z) so as to provide two flaps 12 which are folded t inwardly to form the side walls of the fireplace opening 13,: the free edgesof these flapsengagingthe back 6 and the bottom flap the floor of this opening. The front flap 8 forms the hearth. In F igure 6, the full lines show the fireplace as placed against a fiat wall of a room. If thefireplace is to be used in a corner of the room, as shown in Figures 7 and 8, the triangular tongues 14, out on the lines 0 in the back 6, will? be bent outwardly: so as to support the flap 17 of i the shelf, as shown 'in dotted lines :in Fig-r ure6; 4
The shelf 3 is formed of a blank B which is of the shape shown in Figure 4, and this blank is. folded on the lines (Z so as to form a shelf of a certain thickness, as shown in Figure 1. This shelf is placed on the top of the body, with its front and rear parts eX-. tendingover the top part of the body, as shown in Figure 6. I
This shelf is formed with the rear flapll'? which is bent downwardly when used with the arrangement shown in Figure 1, as shown in full lines in Figure 6, but when the device is used ina corner, as shown in Figures 7 and 8, the shelf is bent into horizontal position and rests on the tongues 14, as shown in dot- I ted lines in Figure 6.
The chimney 4 is formed of a triangular .7 shaped blank C, folded onthe lines 6 to provide achim'ney shaped as shown in Figure 1,
with a flat straight back and sides and a slop-= Ibo ing front,
The upper flap a of the chimney is bent downwardly as shown in Figure 11, when the device is used as shown in Figure 1, but when used in the corner of a room, this flap and 6 the side flaps can be bent at an angle, as shown in Figure 8, or the side and top flaps can be left straight, as shown in Figure 7, with the edges resting against the walls as shown in said figure.
10 Thus when the parts are to be assembled, the body 1 is placed in position on the floor. The shelf is then placed on the body and finally the chimney is placed on the shelf. This produces a fireplace which may be used 15 at Christmas to simulate a real fireplace and when the device is not to be used, the chimney and shelf are placed in the body, as shown in Figure 2, so that the device will occupy but little space when not in use.
8 0 It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the com- 2 bination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is A fireplace of the character described com- 38 prising a blank of sheet material cut and folded to provide a unitary body having sides, back and an open front to present an open fireplace, said blank being further out and bent to form flaps constituting sides of the 30 fireplace and also a bottom therefor, extensions cut and bent from the back, a shelf section forming a top for the body and having its rear portion resting upon the extension, a false chimney superimposed upon the 4:" shelf, and a marginal edging at the front and end of the shelf and bent downwardly and inwardly to confront the front and sides.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
