This invention relates to cutlery and more specifically to knives as combined with holders or handles in which the blade may be folded as a scabbard or sheath when not required for use. o Such knives are for the use of workmen and artizans, being of wide application for miscellaneous purposes, possessing unusual strength and cutting qualities, and, as the blade is completely protected when retracted,

From the foregoing it will be'seen that a double edged blade has been disclosed, easily sharpened or removed entirely from its hanvdle for grinding or like purposes.

It is equally obvious that the protection afforded the blade by its scabbard-like handle is eflicient, and due to the grip obtainable by .30 the handle, when theblade is extended, the cutting edges may be firmly pressed-against the work part and'guided with entire accuracy.

Obviously the cutting of cords; shaping of suitable material in the -manner of adrawknife, applying putty and other manifold purposesare effectively accomplished.

From the foregoing it will be seen that a simple device for this purpose has been disclosed in the preferred form of its embodiment, but it is not desired to restrict the details to the exact instruction-shown, it being obvious that changes, not involving the eXer- K cise of invention, may be made without confiicting with the scope of the appended claims.

Having thus described the invention, what I is claimed as new and desired to secure by Letters'Patent, is

1. A knife comprising a flat triangular blade having two cutting edges, a rectangular plate provided with a finger receiving opening, an open cylindrical handle integral with said plate, and means for clamping said blade to said plate, one of said clamping means being removable and the other to act as a pivot on which said blade may turn toseat entirely on the plate and enter the space in said handle, both of said cutting 10 edges being guardedthereby. I 2. A knife comprisinga flat triangular blade having opposed cutting-edges "at thefront, and provided with a pair of spaced openings in its rear portion, a rectangular sheet metal plate having registering openings, manually operable bolts passing through the openings, either of said bolts being removable and adapted to act as pivots, and a resilient hollow cylindrical handle formed on the outer edge of said plate, the free edge of said handle being spaced above the plate to receive said blade therebelow when turned upon one of the pivot bolts.

3. A knife comprising. a flattriangular blade having two proximate cutting edges and a plain edge opposed thereto and provided with a pair of spaced openings in its rear portion,a rectangular sheet metal plate having registering openings near'one of its edges, manually operable bolts'passing through the openings in said blade and plate, either of said bolts acting selectively as a pivot on which the blade and plate may relatively rotate, a coiled cylindrical grip handle on the opposite edge of said plate, said handle having an open longitudinal space in the plane of said blade into which the blade may be swung on either of its pivot bolts, and an elongated rectangular opening in said plate inter- 40 jacent and parallel said handle and blade having beaded edges. 7

A knife comprising a flat triangular bladehaving two angularly disposedconvergent cutting edges, and a plain rear edge opposed thereto, a handle, a pair of pivot 1 bolts to clampsaid blade to one side of said Y blade, and means on said handle to act as, a guard for both cutting edges ooincidently when swung thereunder, on either pivot bolt 7 to selectively, said bolts constituting removable means for preventing the return of the blade to itsoperative positionwhen one of the cutting edges is positioned within said handle.
