rounnArIon eiiimnivn y Application filed June 13,
The invention relates to improvements in foundation garments for womens wear and has for its primary object the provision of an improved construction of this character capable of economical manufacture and highly efficient in use. v
Another obj ectof the invention is the provision of a garment of the character indicated having a relatively heavylower construction and a relativelylight upperconstruction. 1 I L 1 Another object of the invention is the provision of a garmentof the character indicated especially adapted to serve'as a com-- bin'ationof corset and brassiere.
Other objects will appear hereinafter. I
The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of scribed and claimed.
The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, and in which, 7
parts hereinafter dement embodying the invention;
Fig. 2 a partial transverse section of the Fig. 1 is a front perspective view of a gar- P same taken substantiallyon line 22 of Fig. 3 a partial vertical section taken sub, stantially on line 3-3 of'Fig. 1; i i
Fig. A a partial enlarged section taken substantially on line H of Fig. l; and
Fig. 5 a partialsection taken substantially on line 5+5 of Fig. 1.
The embodiment er the invention illus;
trated in the drawings comprises a lower portionlO made of relatively heavy material: such as satin and having suitable elastic gores or inserts 11 and 12 incorporated therein. The body thus formed is provided with depending supporter straps 13' as indi-" cated. At the top of the front of the body two upward extensions 13 are formed as shown from the heavy material of said body and adapted and arranged to cover the bosoms of the wearer, a deep central recess 14 being formed between the extensions 13 asshown.
' At one side a suitable opening is provided and hooks and eyes 15' are arranged at the i'eao. js ir iiteieedsoaj .1 If;
"'Suitable'shoulde'r straps are also atta'clied to the upperfportion 16 to hold edges deer-eerie serve as. a mean s for adjust} 'Qf h w arer-'11? the s'ame in proper position on the wearer; ..1
' Extending acrossthelower portion' of each extension 13 is areinforce'ment 18 in theforrnr ofa tuck formed in the'material ofeach ea tension 18 to oonstitute'a bosom support. iIn- Y wardly and downwardly inclined darts 19 are alsofo'rmed initheupper portion 16 to cause f a fullness above and adjacent each'extension 13 to constitute a suitable brassiere. By this arrangement as'uitabl'e foundation garment is providedwhich is adapted and arranged to serve as a suitable combination corset and brassierehaving proper bust support. The specific form and arrangement'of' parts is a simple and eflicient one for the purose.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without departing from the spirit of the invention. do not wish to be limited to the precise de; tails set forth, but desire to avail myself of I therefore such variations and modifications as fall' within the scope of the'appended claims.
Having thus fully described my invenotion, what I claim as new and desire to secure a by Letters Patent is:
1. A garment of the class described comprising a foundation garment bodyof substantially tubular form adapted to surround f v and support the body ofthe wearer; shoulder straps for supporting said foundation garment on the wearer; right and left front reinforcing portions of heavy material connected to eachother midway'their adjoining front vertical sides and constituting the main front portion of the garment, the tops and bottoms of said reinforcing portions being separated from each other, the tops being'eX- tended upwardly to form bosom supports; a
an upper lighter garment portion extending "100 'wardly inclined above, around and between said bosom supports and to which said shoulder straps are attached; and an elastic gore between the lower ends of said front reinforcing portions.
2. A garment of the class described comprising a foundation garment body of substantially tubular form adapted to surround and support the body of the wearer; shoulder straps for supporting said foundation gar ment on the wearer; right and left front re inforcing portions of heavy. material con-.
nected to each other midway their adjoining front vertical sides and constitutingthe main front portion of the garment, the tops and bottoms of said reinforcing portions being separated from each other, the tops being eitended upwardly to form bosom supports, transverse tucks being formed in said bosom supports; an upper lighter garment portion extending above, around and between said bosom supports and to which said shoulder straps are attached, inwardly and downdarts being formed in said upper portion above and outside of each bosom support; and an elastic gore between the lower ends of said front reinforcing portions. p k p 7 v In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand this 6th day of June, 1930. p
a ISIDOR ROTH.
