FREDERICK A. STOHLMANN, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN SURGICAL SAWS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 184,804, dated November 28, 1876; application tiled October 5, 1876.
purposes, and consists of a series of beads or cylindrical or spheroidal cutters, threaded upon a steel wire or strong flexible thread or wire, and provided with handles, whereby to operate such saw by drawing it back and forth through a hole bored in the bone, at which to commence to saw, or in any other convenient manner, the surfaces of such beads having peripheral cutting-edges to operate in any direction in whichl the pressure of the cord or wire may a'ct in drawing the saw first one way and then the other. This saw may be used as a le in removing the surface of bone or other articles.
ln the drawing, Figure 1 is an elevation of the two ends of the saw, and Fig. 2 is a sec tion of one bead in larger size.

If a hole is bored through a bone, the saw can be threaded through the saine, after-taking one of the handles o'. The sawing will commence in the hole.
I claim as my invention- The saw or abradiug instrument, made of a range of beads upon a wire or flexible core, with handles at the ends, each bead having peripheral cutting-edges, substantially as set forth.
